if it STILL stinks - pay someone to come out and clean it.
if that doesn't work - take it back, get reimbursed for your expenses to try and get it cleaned and wait for the one on back order.
Ok, so my question to you ladies is what can I use to deoderize my entire couch? We bought a new couch, that was actually on clearence because someone else had returned it. We wanted a new couch but it was on back order and they had the one we wanted there in clearence. It did smell bad, like cigarette smoke, there, but we decided to get it anyway. Well we brought it home and let i sit in the garage for a couple days to see if that would air it out a little. I sprayed it with febreeze right when we got it home. Well now it's in the house and it STILL stinks! I febreezed it again. The next day I sprinkled baking soda on it, but still the smell is there. It's driving us crazy! So, do you gals know of a deoderizer you can buy at the store? I know carpet cleaning places to uphosltry cleaning with a deoderizing service, and I will do that if it comes down to it, it doesn't need to be cleaned, just deoderized. Just thought I would see if any of you ladies had a good idea or know of a good, safe product. Thanks!
Hey ladies thanks for the ideas. I did decide the best thing would be to have it cleaned/deoderized professionally. A nice guy came and steam cleaned/deoderized for just $50 and a garunteed his work. Thanks for the advice!

It really does need to be cleaned in order for it to get deodorized. You can spray on febreeze and the like for years and it will still have ciggarette smoke in it. So I think that an upholstry cleaner is your best bet. You can probably rent one and do it yourself for cheaper than hiring someone else. Good luck!
There are two products I use to deodorize things in my house. Both are all natural, enzyme based cleaners (little tiny enzymes that chew through all the bad smells! lol). The first is Oder Eliminator by Dragonfly (http://www.dragonflyorganix.com/24odor.html) and the second is Oder Eliminator by Earth Worm (http://acleanearth.com/product_Household_Odor_Eliminator.....
Hope these help!
I've heard that coffee beans are good at absorbing/removing odor. You can get a small amount of beans at some grocery stores (at Harmons, they have little self-serve bins) and you can get just a cup or less. Try setting them around the couch in open bowls or something. (This won't work if you can't stand the smell of coffee!)
