Hello ladies.... I have a Friday evening wedding at a Swanky Boston Hotel :-) Looking forward to it! BUT I have yet to get a dress - if this were Pre DS (lol) I would have had a dress and all accessories like a month ago. I know the brides maids are wearing long strapless black gowns. Now, since putting on the baby weight I have been going w/ Black for Everything, I used to be the 'colorful' girl at such occasions! So I assume I' would not be the only other guest wearing a black dress, Yet something keeps telling me Not to go the black route. What do you think? Would you wear black? Obviously mine is not going to be a long gorgeous gown like her girls, so Im positive no one will confuse me w/ the wedding party ! haha I do like long dresses tho, and its Winter in NE........ IDK ? help :-)
Thanks for your Helpful Support Ladies !! I'm going shopping Sunday w/ my mom ( my biggest supporter lol) and trying on Anything and Everything that catches my eye. ALSO I Never even gave Spanx a thought ! SO Excited about that now :-)
*Noooo way would I Ever wear White or even Ivory to someones wedding! That a "rule" I wont break! haha
You could wear black but I would suggest you wear another color. Long is fine also. Pull up some Spanx and wear what you feel good in!
They now have black dress pants that have a layer of sheer material over them that makes them look like a skirt. I wore it with a black/glitter top to an evening wedding a few Oct. ago and got tons of raves!

i think a black dress with maybe a cute velvet jacket of different color like silver, red, or something elegant of that nature would be pretty
Maybe go with the black but with a subtle print? Or you can look in the mirror, realize how beautiful you truly are and rock a colorful dress like you used to!
I wouldn't wear white, but otherwise wear whatever makes you feel good. Go out and try on a lot of dresses and if you happen to get a black one, do it. But if there's a gorgeous topaz dress and you look rockin in that, get that. Have fun!
Personally, I don't see any problem wearing black. Since it is an evening wedding I'm sure alot of the guests will wear that color. If you want to wear something different though, how about midnight blue or a deep burgundy/purple, or forest green - all very dark colors, but obviously not basic black. You could also do black and add some colorful accessories if that is the color you feel most comfortable in. Just go and have fun! :)
Go ahead and wear black. Just be sure that you feel good in whatever you wear.
Also, a few extra lbs - so what - go with color. Or some color.
I had a Jan. wedding...the bridemaids wore black and many of my guests did too!
I don't see a problem with you wearing black. You can wear any dark color for the slimming effect. Blue or dark grey as well as the black.
Midnight blue is a wonderful color for evening attire and can be just at useful at hiding those few extra curves.
I personally would not wear a black dress.
Black is totally appropriate for a evening, swanky, wedding. I bet you'll see a number of women in black. Wear whatever looks flattering on you. I guess white isn't acceptable.
A black cocktail dress should be just fine! Many come with a jacket or some type of printed belt or accessory around the waist or over the bodice. You may even find one that has a burn out pattern in velvet or something. If you want a different color -wine/burgundy is lovely -especially this time of year and it's also very slimming!

I would wear black! You can accessorize it with a chunky colorful necklace and shoes. A dress with a ruched effect around the waistline is perfect for minimizing the waist.

or maybe do a silver/gray dress. just go shopping and see what you find that you like, I wouldn't really stick to one color. You may find a dress in a another style that you LOVE in green ! you never know.
