De-squeaking a Bed... Is It Possible?

My fiance and I bought a new bed and box spring set last year. Well... already the darn thing is squeaky as heck. We live with my in-laws, who sleep across the hall. SIL sleeps in the next room over. Needless to say, the super-squeaky bed makes it pretty hard to be discreet when the mood hits. Plus my fiance is a pretty rough sleeper. Every time he rolls over he literally launches himself up and over. lol. It's just plain annoying. Most of the noise is coming from the box springs... is there anything I can do to fix it? I hate to have to buy a new bed when I JUST got this one. (teach me to buy cheap. lol.)

~It's on a frame... but it actually squeaked worse when we had it on the floor! lol. We got the frame hoping that would help... and it did a little, but not enough.

What can I do next?

Call the store you bought it from.
We had that problem and they came out and replaced it.
Then when that one squeaked later on.....it was the wood slats underneath....not enough wood slats so hubby added 3 more. Voila.

I would cover the box spring in a thick blanket like that mink fur.. even staple gun it to the wood frame of the box. That would muffle the noise from that at least some. I have a metal bedframe that had leather pieces between the joints where the screws went in to prevent squeaking. you could by "pleather" at a fabric store and cut it into little squares, with a hole for the screw to go through, the idea is to not let the metal touch. You could also store clothes, blankets, thick stuff, under the bed to "absorb" the noise.

This makes me laugh because our mattress and box spring is about 19 years old and only recently has it begun to squeak. I know, it's sooooo annoying. It always wakes me up and I"m a light sleeper. I have no idea how to correct it. We thought it was the boards holding the frame of the bed so we put some cushioned rubber under each board. Didn't work. It must be the mattress or box spring itself. If you find a solution, send it my way. LOL

Thats od but it does have coils so it will squeak I understand embarrassing i had a bet set once that was so load the neighbors used to call the police unless we was very careful.I'm fairly sure your inlaws not sure how old the sister is but the parents should know thats gonna happen. I suggest instead of replacing the better try to move out its easier in long run I hated living with family. I only have my own kids to worry bout now

I dont know if this would help, we shoved a pillow between the wall and the bed. The bed does not move as much. Squeaking bed is so embarrasing! lol!

Is the bed on the floor or on a frame? If on a frame, you might try setting the bed directly on the floor.

I have the same problem with a cheap box spring I bought for my spare bedroom. In our case, I really think it might be the wooden frame rubbing against other wood. I thought about taking the bottom cover off and using wood screws to screw together the wooden slats and cross beams. Needless to say, since it is a spare bed, it is not priority until company comes!!!

I my case, I guess it is not so bad knowing the in laws aren't getting frisky across the hall, just not so good for them!! lol

Good luck!!!
