So What Happened?

my dr did no test at my follow up just made sure i was having no pregnancy symptoms. at my 5.5 wk appointment my dr had to do an u/s to determine how far along i was for sure and he found 2 sacs both had fetuses in them and both fetuses had heartbeats, so yes it was twins.

You should listen to your doctor. She is giving that advice, for a good reason. I know waiting is hard, but it's what is best for your reproductive health.

It's very important to follow your Dr.'s advice on this, your body really needs the time to recover so you're healthy and healed when you get pregnant again. Saying a prayer for you... I've been there. : )

I didn't wait at all before trying again. I was pregnant again the second month after the D&C.

Doctors like to be able to "date" a pregnancy based on your cycle. Without this, the only way to be sure of your due date is through u/s.

There is no guarantee that waiting, or not waiting, will affect the viability of a next pregnancy.

R.,
I'm sorry for your loss. It's hard, I know.
I had 3 miscarriages before I had my son.
Please listen to your doc.
No need to rush this. Better to make sure your body is healthy and ready.
In the scheme of life, a few months isn't that much, right?
Good luck! God bless!

OH GIRL!!!! WAIT!!!! Your body (and your soul) have been through a devastating time...you need to heal in your body & your soul...patience will help to insure that you DON'T have another M/C...you might want to speak with your Doc about getting those cycles regulated while you are waiting to heal...Best!

I'm sorry for your loss. You should wait until you've had two normal periods before trying again since that's what your doctor recommended. He recommended that specifically for you for specific reasons related to your medical history and fertility. It would be wise to follow that advice.

I just want to clarify, though, that 7.5 weeks is far too early to know if you were pregnant with twins. Most people are only just discovering that they're pregnant at 6-7 weeks. An early ultrasound would not be accurate in determining twins and it would be too early for pregnancy symptoms to indicate a possible twin pregnancy.

It's easier to tell at a 10-12 week ultrasound pairing that up with extremely high hcg levels in a blood test around the same time as well as gaining an extra 10 lbs than is typical in the first trimester.

I had a d&c on a Thursday and I got pregnant the following friday. She is now 4.5 and healthy. Your supposed to wait so your uterus can heal but it is possible! Best of luck love!

Hi R.,

Did the doctor do any testing on the tissue from the D&C? I had a missed miscarriage earlier this year at 12 weeks, and had a D&C also. The tests came back showing I had a partial molar pregnancy. My OB told us we had to wait at least 6 months before trying again, to allow my body to go back to normal (not just my cycles). If yours were regular miscarriages, you probably don't have to wait that long, but definitely listen to your doctor. I know it's hard to wait, I've been there, but it's what's best for you and your future babies.

I had 3 miscarriages in less than a year. The combined power of grief and hormones can be TOTALLY overwhelming. There's no "magic time" that's right for every body, but PLEASE give yourself time to grieve and time for your hormones to settle.
