I guess it depends on where you live. You could always call your local daycares and ask.

I was wondering what I should charge to take care of a 6-9 month old if she only comes every other day in the afternoons only?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

I would say $6 per hour. That is what I charge for part time children to come to my small home daycare.
My neighbor does daycare, she is licensed. If I use her for my daughter she charges $5 an hour per kid.
I charge $4.00 per hour to the family that I watch their little boy. Make sure they bring whatever food with that the baby will need, plus the bottles with formula, and diapers (don't want to run out of those). They have just left a pack of diapers here plus, change of clothes, bib, spoons, formula and bottle here so they don't have to remember to bring it with every day.
My friend does part-time care in Westby, WI. She charges $3.00/hr for one child, and $2.00 for any more children (per child) in the family. It is a rate based on only the time the child is in her care.
We have had a weekly care rate, though, of $95-$125 a week for full-time care whether or not the kid was there.
I would say doing an hourly rate would make sense in this instance...but set up some rules like how much time before the arranged time they can cancel with/without pay, if they can change days, vacation time, etc. Drop off and pick-up times, who pays for food and items like diapers, creams, etc. Snacks...really think about all the possibilities. (My friend doesn't provide diapers or formula..but she does meals and snacks for older kids at no charge).
Added/Edited - Keep in mind that $10 an hour (as one person recommended) is not feasible in Holmen, WI. The town is a little over 8,000, people and the median "household" income is less than $50,000. If this were a full-time position $10/hr would be almost half of someone's average income. Know your area, and plan around what the average is "locally."
PS: WI minimum wage is $7.25...$10 is ALOT of money for any job in the area.
If you are talking about only watching one child, then I wouldn't do it personally for less than $10/hour. If you have a daycare with multiple children, then I think somewhere around $5/hour is reasonable because you have multiple kids to make up a decent hourly wage. $2-$4 an hour and that is all you are making--you might as well go dunk some fries at McDonalds for a better wage, it is not even worth your time imho. Of course if you are just helping a friend out for the short-term or something, then that should be considered. If you are watching a child and this is going to be long-term, then I don't think it is logical to do all that work for less than minimum wage even. Just my 2 cents.
