Anyone have any recommendations for a daycare provider that does not cost an arm & a leg in the Shawnee KS area or in the Overland Park area (around College & Metcalf/Antioch) area? Need full time starting in November for an infant (6 weeks).

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I can afford $150 to $200 per week. However, there are centers out there that charge over $1000 plus per month for an infant and THAT is what I am NOT willing to pay.

I am a provider in the area of College and K-7/K-10 in Olathe, my rates are in line with other providers in my area. If my location would work for you give me a call, M. Genter ###-###-####.

If you'd prefer closer to the OP area I have a friend who is a provider in the area of Quivera and 119th St. You can contact Debbie at ###-###-####.

Thanks and Good Luck in your search.

Sorry, but the only way you will not pay an arm and a leg in Kansas AND for a newborn is if you are able to get some type of state assistance that pays for it and I don't know about those. Well, I'm sorry, it really depends on what you consider an arm and a leg. You're are looking at about 150-200 per week. Best wishes

I sure wish we lived closer. I only charge 120 per week. Those prices out there are way out of my league.

I did a little playing with numbers.. I used to have a mom that lived in Shawnee just off I-35 and 75th I think. I am not sure if 75th is right. She said it took 25 minutes to get here. But she worked and lived there so she spent 100 minutes per day on the road bringing her son to me. The cost of her doing that was about 250-300 per month when the gas was where it is now.

You can find less expensive daycare if you drive a little outside your area and in towards the city. But you need to consider the gas and time of course :) But even with the gas, with what Missouri providers charge it's still cheaper if you don't mind the drive. I know that there are quite a few providers that charge 90 and 100 per week in South KC, Grandview, and Raytown.

Special Beginnings is at College and Lowell, but it is $270 a week for an infant. We use their Olathe Center and love it. I think there is a Kinder Care Center at College and Antioch. Your best bet may be to try to find an in home day care provider. A lot of time they charge less than centers.
