I am needing a little help! My daughter is 20 months and the past few months has been taking her diaper off at night. I thought maybe she was ready to be potty trained so we tried the whole thing and it has gone well. While she does well during the day she does not like to keep her diaper on at night. I have tried EVERYTHING I could come up with. I first tried putting on pants, it worked for a short time. Then a onsie or a sleeper, she quickly learned to take those off. I then turned her diaper around backwards and she finally figured that out. I need to find a way to get her to keep her diaper on and quit peeing the bed.
I have a set of twins that will be 2 on Feb. 23. They had a bad habit of taking off their diaper too. We started using diaper pins through the zipper only. They were still stripping out of their clothes by wiggling their little bodies through the neck. So we still use the diaper pins but we just fold the material over just enough to make the neck size a little smaller (without choking them)so that they can't come out of their sleepers. I also let them go into the bathroom with me sometimes to show them how to use the big girl potty. We also invested in one of those little potty seats that sit right on the big potty. We haven't tried it yet but anything to get 2 out of 3 out of diapers.

Training pants. They don't have the velcro like tapes, and are elastic. Might work, did for a friend of mine.

we just let our boys go without it. We put them in underpants. We have waterproof mattress covers and just wash the bedding everyday. Eventually she will grow out of it or get tired of the wet feeling.
Have you tried switching brands? There may be something in this brand that irritates her and she just can't tell you.
Also stay as unemotional as possible about this. If you get ticked and vocal about it then you've given her power over you. you don't want that.

I know the feeling very fustrating, I have four daughters and so far the three ahead of the baby have done it.. the zip up sleepers with a safety pin is a great idea works very well.. also so do the pull ups... I think they are just starting to get ready for potty training . However at just 20 months u may be in for a long haul.. Im still working on num3 to be potty trained and she is 2.. Just think it will all pass soon.. Encourage her to be a big girl and put big girl panties on(aka the pullup) This has worked wonders for mine. Stay in there keep your SENSE OF HUMOR... That is the best key...

DUCT TAPE!!!!! Just put the diaper on and duct tape around her waist. I've been having the same problem, just this week with the taking off of the diaper. So we just keep it on with tape. She won't be able to take it off!! My daughter is 21 months old and just starting to potty train! Good luck and let me know if that doesn't work and we can brainstorm some more!!

Well you should be proud she is such a smart little cookie! My daughter did something similur around the same age, and we ended up having to use box tape. After putting her diaper on her we would wrap box tape around it twice. After a few weeks, she stopped taking her diaper off... I know every baby is different, but maybe that trick will work for you as well? Good Luck!!

Have you tried pullups? My first daughter did the same thing when she was even younger. Except she would only take off the poopy ones and leave them on the opposite end of the bed. :( What a mess! Pull ups were a life saver! Also, I know it's a hassle but waterproof pads are awesome. And if she insists on taking off a diaper and the pullups don't work, try underwear. They have the thick kind and you can always put on the protective plastic ones over top. Maybe she believes she's ready for big girl stuff. My daughter just decided one day she wasn't going to wear diapers (even pullups) anymore. She only had 2 accidents since that day, one was during the night. She is now 6. She was my easiest to potty train. And it was well before she was 2. Good luck!

my sister used to do that when she was young like that. what we did was took her footie pjs (the kind that zip up from the leg) and cut the feet off and put them on her backwards. like your daughter she would figure out everything we would try. then we did this and she couldn't get out of it. hope this helps.

don't give up on the potty training at night. Maybe it's time for pullups or let her wear some pretty underwear and some rubberpants. It worked for me. plastic the mattress so it doesn't get soiled. she's gonna have to learn not to go in the bed and make sure before you go to bed, that you get her up to go

A friend recommended I try the Little Keeper Sleeper to solve this problem of taking off their diaper and clothes. I'm glad I did because this sleeper works GREAT. Their locking system and non-stretchable made sure my little Houdini could not get out and the long zipper in the back made changing a snap. This sleeper is a sanity saver. I got it from their website www.littlekeepersleeper.com

Sounds like you have a brilliant little girl! Short of duct taping the diaper on maybe you could find the full length pajamas that button up in the back. Hopefully this is a phase she will grow out of quickly. We found my daughters diaper off yesterday when we got her up from her nap and I am hoping that was a one time incident. Good Luck! Beth

Well, if she is doing well with potty training during the day the maybe using training pants for night time would help. She would have to use the motions of up and down like underwear. I'm not sure what you use during the day but if she has figured out the diapers then maybe it's just time to TRY letting her go at night. My son (almost 4 now) wet the bed constantly and finally ONE morning, he got it! Ever since that morning he has only had a few accidents, probably because he drank too much liquid before bed.

I had the same problem when my daughter was your daughters age. And I finally went to the doctor and asked him what he thought, he he told me to stop using diapers and just dont give her anything to drink like 2 hours before you put her to bed, and just stick panties on her..Not saying this is what your daughter is going through, but my daughter was ready to be potty trained completely. She did real good in the day time, and I would do the same thing as you and put diapers on at night, and the doctor actually told me that I was confusing her, that if I was gonna do the panty thing and she was doing good in the day time, that i was playing with her emotions, telling her she was a big girl but then putting diapers on at night...The best thing you can do is buy some plastic panties. My daughter had a few accidents the first couple of night but then realized she was a big girl and I havent had any more problems since. Good Luck..

You're not alone. My daughter is the same age as yours and she just started doing the same thing a few weeks ago. (My older daughter went through the same phase at that age, too.) The day I walked into her room and found a poopy diaper on the floor and a poop covered baby in the crib was the last straw. I had read (on here I think!) not too long ago some advice for that and one mom suggested putting panties on over the diaper. I tried that and it worked like a charm. My baby can take her sleepers off but not the panties. In fact, I think she likes having them on because when I change her diaper she tries to put her panties back on if I forget! Maybe that will work for you too. Good luck; I hope you find something that works!

I really sympathize for you. I went through the same thing with our daughter. I tried everything without success. I was also afraid that she might choke herself in the process of attempting to make an "escape". So I had a lot of extra sheets and blankets at the time. One night, I left out some pull up and she figured out a way to take off her pants, take off her diaper, put on the pull up (sometimes backward and all rolled up), and put her pants back on. She did this routine for a few weeks and now she is not even bothering to get up to take off anything.

We had the same problem and tried everything you have finally I tried the pull up dipers that are more like diapers, not the pull ups. I think pampers makes them and they are called like first steps or something like that. It's hard to tear the sides and they are tighter than pull ups. Good luck, we really struggled with this too!
