Ok, so my daughter has had a loose tooth with a crown on it. She has been wiggling it all week and thought it was ready to come out, yanked and only half came out. the half that was attached to the crown. The other half is still wiggling, and she knows that most of the roots are unattached. question. Should we just keep wiggling and working on that half or should I take her to the dentist...not much grosses me out, but this has for some reason!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Daughter says that she wants to wait and wiggle...So we are going with that. The more I looked, the more it looks like just the crown came off. The yucky parts in the crown I believe was the adhesive to hold it to the tooth. Thanks for input!
Has not come out yet...called Dentist and have an appt. Tues and they will help it along a little more. They too said "wiggle all weekend." But now DD is grossed out how it feels....oh the joys of parenting!

If I were you I'd save my money going to the dentist, and just keep wiggling the tooth till it comes out. If so much of it broke off with the crown that it's hard to get ahold of, or slowing down the loosening process; go the grocery store in the dental isle. There's this stuff for temporary filling's that also is used for temporary attachment of crowns and such. Get you some of that and secure the crown back into place for now. It should calm you grossing out and give something for her to tug on again.

Hi S.. I worked for a dentist for 27 years as a dental assistant. I don't know how old your daughter is but it sounds like you need to take her to a dentist. There he can safely remove thr rest of the root with a special insturment. It sounds like the rest of the tooth is even at the gum line. The dentist will numb the area a little bit and so it won't be uncomfortable for her and pop out the rest of the tooth. By the tooth being in there like that, she could get an infection in her gum. Good Luck and HAPPY MOTHERS DAY.

I would treat it like any other tooth. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle and pull. :)
