Dark blood is old blood. Some of the blood and tissue that accumulated to prepare for pregnancy has been there since last month.

missy is right, usually darker blood is indicative of older blood.. now, why you might be experiencing as such could vary, one possible reason might be due to fibroids, they needn't be big and in many cases, regardless of your age, women may not even know they have them. However, some women develop them during pregnancy. That said, with fibroids, they can block the block the blood flow in the uterus and finally when it comes out because it's been backed up for awhile, it's browning and in some cases, almost looks black.. fibroids aren't cancerous and can appear at different ages, not just when older.. you could do a yoga pose called Bakasana whereby it helps to open the uterus .. see online for the pose..
anyway, if the darker blood flow keeps up, then you might want to check with the doc..

Over the years, this has happened to me. It is old blood. I don't know why the old blood is there.I never thought to be concerned. My doctor didn't say anything about. If it was abnormal, he would have.
