Go for it! We lived in Darien, right on Cass ave. and LOVED it! Everything was soo close by on 75th street! i'm sure you will enjoy it! I use to take my daughter to the library right on plainfield road...I have yet to see such a great library as that one!

I've lived in Darien for 5 years and I really like it! Darien is small but it's really nice. I do wish we had a downtown area like Downers Grove, Westmont, Hinsdale, but overall we are close to everything, it's easy to get around (v close to 294, 55, 355), very family oriented, and the schools are great. Great municipal services, police, etc. and in the recent blizzard they were awesome with the streets, etc. We plan on staying here for a while! BTW we do have a high school, Hinsdale South.

I don't live there but my husband works there I think it's a great area. I've only heard good things about the schools and it's very family friendly.
Good Luck with finding an area to move to.

I grew up in that area. It is a typical suburb, but very small. Most homes feed into the Downers Grove or Hinsdale school systems, Darien only has a handful of schools & no high school. It is surrounded mostly by Downers Grove, which is large & has a lot to offer.

We moved to Darien from the city last year, and although it is different from the city, we LOVE it! We looked in Downers Grove - too expensive! We looked in Westmont/Lisle ect., but then we found the perfect house in Darien. We love the area, its close to highways, shopping, great restaurants (Oakbrook/Yorktown areas) Im a few miles from TWO Costcos (lol) so what more could you ask for?? Oh and yes, great schools (thats the major reason we moved) Hinsdale South is a block away from us. The people are very nice around here too! I never knew my neighbors in the city, and within days people in the neighborhood were stopping by with wine and saying hello! :) I cant wait for it to get warm again so we can see everyone out and about again!

I grew up in Darien and last summer, after living in the city for 8 years, just moved back! I loved living here as a child and now that I have 2 kids of my own, think it is a great place for them to grow up too. The school district is great. We live in Cass District #63 and my oldest goes to Concord Elementary (youngest is only 2 so not yet in school). I love the school, they have a great program and the school is very secure. Jr high has great ratings too. High school is Hinsdale South, 2nd rated in the area after Hinsdale Central.

As for our neighborhood, we really enjoy it. The neighbors are so friendly and people look out for each other. Lots of families so my kids are making tons of friends. And we are conveniently located. The Bolingbrook Promenade is 5 minutes away with lots of shopping and restaurants, and we just got a new Costco in November. Oak Brook Mall is also nearby. Plus we just jump on 55 to get to the city. We are also close to both airports, making travel easy for us as well as for out of state visitors.

All in all, it s a great place to live and raise a family. I'm glad we made the move back!
