I am seeking a recommendation for a dance class for my 3 1/2 year old daughter. Something that will just introduce her to dance yet fun. I would welcome any feedback and suggestions for studios in the area.

What can I do next?

My friends and I have been researching dance classes for the last couple months. We found the 2 best classes are Jazz n Taps and Tiffany's, both in Pleasanton. Tiffiny's is definitely more structured and focused on dance. Jazz and taps is much more relaxed. Both seem to have great programs. My friends and I have 4 girls were trying to enroll at the same time. It's been hard finding a class with room for all 4. They both said they'd consider opening another class just for us if we could bring in 1-2 more people. The class would be on Friday at 9:15. If your interested in this class, please let me know. If that doesn't work for you, still check both these classes out, I think you'll be pleased.

Try any of the dance classes for 3-4 year olds through the City of Dublin Parks & Recreation. It's a great place to start to see if your daughter's interested. They offer a variety of classes for an affordable cost. Anything from ballet to tap to ice skating (though I'd recommend going directly through Dublin Iceland for that). My 4-year-old has tried out quite a few things through the City, and some have stuck while others haven't. Give it a try! It can't hurt. You can find the Rec Guide online at the City's website. Have fun!

A.,
The San Ramon Community Center Recreation guide has a lot of great classes for your daughters age group, and reasonable prices. It's a great way to try out different classes without having to spend too much money. Look up San Ramon Valley Recreation guide, and you'll see the many choices of classes offered.

My daughter has been going to Livermore Dance Centre since she was 3 1/2, and she loves it. All classes are taught by the owner, Currin Lee, and they perform at several community events throughout the year, including the Alameda County Fair and Veterans Hospitals during the holidays. Currin is very laid back and makes class fun for the kids. I would highly recommend her. The classes are all combo classes...so my daughter learns tap, ballet, jazz, hula, and a little bit of acrobatics from her.

Oh, and I would advise AGAINST going to Tiffany's Dance Academy. In appearance it looks like a good school, but have had BAD experiences with them, and have had MANY other moms tell me they moved their daughters out of Tiffany's as well, for many of the same reasons I did. If you want more info on it, feel free to contact me.

ClubSport in Pleasanton has several dance classes for young children. I have had my 4 year old in classes since she was just over 2 and it's been great. It's a very relaxed and fun atmosphere, with focus on rhythm and movement, other places may be more structured. They do 2 recitals a year - so cute! The price is a little higher if you are not a member, but I think it's still competitive with Jamie's and Tiffany's (also located in Pleasanton). I think I have heard good things about Tiffany's and bad things about Jamie's (90% sure it's not the other way around).
Good luck and have fun!
