Hi

I have a 3 1/2 year old son who is allergic to milk & eggs. I’ve gathered oodles of milk & egg-free recipes that my son absolutely loves. I make a few batches of cupcakes & muffins that he loves every few weeks and just freeze them so we always have something on hand. His recent birthday cake was milk & egg-free and everyone loved it. Here are a bunch of websites that I’ve bookmarked over the past two years. I’m sure you’ll find a bunch more on the Internet and you might like others better. I like to check out the discussion boards every so often ~ it’s a good way to learn of new products and new allergy info. It’s how I learned that McDonald’s french fries have an egg coating and also just heard that Fleishman’s margarine is diary-free.

Feel free to e-mail me if you’d like. I could forward a few e-mails I've sent with dairy-free recipes. You’ll get the hang of it pretty quickly and you’ll be reading food labels like a pro. Good luck!!

http://www.foodallergy.org/default.htm : Fabulous website with so many resources. This is the site that I bought little wallet cards & refrigerator magnets that list all the

other names used for milk & eggs. They’ve been great especially for Todd since he doesn’t do the food shopping as often and isn’t as familiar with all the extra names to be aware of. From these I printed bunches of copies of the listed names for friends and family who have insisted on being able to have something to offer Alexander.

http://www.vegfamily.com/babies-and-toddlers/dairy-allerg...: This website has great recipes and many are kid-friendly. Vegan recipes/cookbooks are great for those with the milk & egg allergy

http://allergies.about.com/cs/eggs/a/aa062899.htm: Another general website but useful.

http://www.nomilk.com/: This has some recipes and just some general info. Definitely geared toward those who just have the milk allergy but it had some info that others left out since they focus on so many other allergies.

http://www.fankids.org/FANKid/kidindex.html : Geared toward older kids with food allergies ~ but good info for you.

http://www.allergicchild.com/ : Great website for those just beginning the food allergy routine.

http://www.mothering.com/articles/growing_child/food/soy_... : This is a lengthy article which discusses the concerns of too much soy ~ it touches on some adverse effects on the reproductive systems of young boys & girls because of the high amount of estrogen in soy. This was the article that led me to research the drawbacks of using so many soy products with my little guy. It’s probably too early in the research to really know if this is a huge concern but I’m not willing to wait it out and see if my son has any issues when he hits puberty!

http://www.foodallergybuddy.com/ : This is a new site I recently discovered. It’s got a great little Buddy Card that you print out and can give to waiters/waitress’ at restaurants so the chef can help prepare safe dishes for the little ones. We have only been able to order Alexander’s meal at one restaurant since just about everything on a kids menu is topped with cheese or cooked in butter. We’ve discovered a simple spaghetti meal at California Pizza Kitchen that he can have and it’s been his special treat for the past two birthdays. I still take all of his meals with us when we go out to restaurants and even when we go to friends houses for dinner. Better safe than sorry!!

Rene',

A friend of mine has a son with milk allergies. She buys cake mixes and frosting from Cherry Brook Kitchens. They sell products specifically for people with food allergies. You can order from their website or use their store locator to see if your local grocery store sells their products. I notice they recently added pancakes and brownies to their product line. The website is www.cherrybrookkitchen.com.

have you talked with your doctor about this? what is she eating/drinking to think she has milk/dairy allergies? my daughter is also 10mon and as far as dairy we've only been giving her cheese and baby yogurt.... has your daughter been on milk-based formula and had issues with it or did it just happen recently while trying different foods? it could be something else but check w/ your doctor... don't have any recipies for you but i just suggest you talk with your doctor about her issues with dairy... im sure you'll get some suggestions from them. good luck! and hopefully it's nothing serious for her.

You can go to www.thematernalsource.com and get my recipie book. I will work today on updateing it and upload the new one tonight. Look for it tomorrow morning for the new recipies. They would include pancakes, mac and cheese and many other things. Feel free to email me with any questions regarding food allergies.
