Cymbalta

Anyone had any experience...good or bad...with Cymbalta? My dr just gave me some samples to try for a few weeks, so I wanted to get some opinions. So far, I feel pretty great (it's only been a week)...I have more energy and less appetite (which is a GREAT thing! lol). Anyone been on it for a long period of time? Your thoughts and advice are appreciated! Thanks!

Also...did it matter if you took it in the a.m or p.m? I've been taking it in the a.m. cuz the dr said it might give a burst of energy...but I'm starting to notice a bit of dizzyness and headaches. A friend of mine started taking hers at night and seems to be doing a lot better with it. Any advice on that??

What can I do next?

I just recently stopped taking it because it seemed to be getting the job done and then all of the sudden I went back to square one.I haven't talked to the Doc about it.I was also having side affects I didn't like.I don't know everyone's body is different it maybe be good for you.I say if it's working and you aren't having any bad side affects take it!

Yeah, I was on Cymbalta last year. Initially I felt great too but more and more got dumped on my depression plate so it became harder and harder to control. My experience seems to have been an enimga. I got so tired I was literally in bed 20/24 hours and they were writing Provigil to keep me awake. I finally said I had had enough and went cold turkey before my husband's return from a deployment. I just couldn't live like that anymore. I would say just be aware of what can go wrong and ask someone else objective to keep an eye on you for those symptoms as well. I had really high hopes for it but for whatever reason, it didn't work out for me. I would recommend that if you aren't in some version of talk therapy that you get into it, it helps better combined with the drugs. Good luck.

Fortunately, I've not had to use anti-depressants, however, I have a friend using Cymbalta.
She lost a crazy amount of weight...sounds appealing, but it turned into a case of where she couldn't eat and became dangerously under weight.
Please be careful and mind your physical health while improving your mental health.

Hi P.,
Great to hear that you're doing so well so far on the Cymbalta. If you haven't had side effects at this point, you should be a great match!
It's a "newer" class of antidepressants and it works especially well on the fatigue and body aches/pains that are sometimes a part of depression.

I'd say keep it up for AT LEAST 6 months if it's working well...I've known people on it for many years with no problems. Like others in the class, never just quit it cold turkey, as the side effects can be pretty bad...be sure you talk to your doc/provider about weaning down if you want to come off it.

Good luck! Sounds like it's going to work for you!

My mom has been on it for about 2 years now, and it is working for her. No bad side effects.

I've been on it for a few months now. I really like it. I tried Wellbutrin first, and this did not help my mood at all. The first month or two, I had some stomachs pains with Cymbalta, but this has gone away. As mentioned, I would give it several months before trying something else. Best of luck!

It was the worst thing that I have ever taken. And one of the hardest to stop. After a while I was practically a basket case. I couldn't have a conversation without breaking down. It also made me too dizzy to even drive. Let me suggest that you take it at exactly the same time every day and don't miss, ever! You'll be jumping through your skin.

Has anyone had nausea on this? i'm on Zoloft, but not sure it's doing the trick. Wondering if I should switch. Sounds like it could help.
I swear, I think all moms should be on something. Our lives can be crazy! And our moods!

i have been on it for a while- 8 month-ish- and I really like it. I have tried just about all of the different kinds due to migrane headaches and this is the best! I feel like myslef again! it also comes in generic which helps out the family! the last one I was on cost $50 to 70 a month!
