Mini cupcakes from a supermarket would be best as far as size, a couple of bites and they're done. Other moms will appreciate their children not getting too much sugar :)
Have fun, we're not allowed to take anything in at all :(
Good morning!!!
My son's bday is next week and he is now in Kinder. I have been told that parents are allowed to take cupcakes for him to share with his class. May i ask for recommendations on where to get yummy cupcakes?
they have to be store/bakery bought, from what the school told me.
Thank you!

Our local supermarkets and super stores like BJ's or Cosco have wonderfully delicious cupcakes that rival bakery cupcakes. I would check there first before going to a local bakery for cupcakes for the class.
Honestly, I wouldn't spend a bundle on the BEST cupcakes. All kindergarteners will care about is that they're having cupcakes. Some will just lick the frosting off the top. I would look for the best deal.
I went to the grocery store bakery and got their mini cupcakes. My son was in kindergarten last year and that was the perfect size for them.
As a teacher (PISD) who is responsible for the recess time that these are given out, cupcakes are so messy and there is a lot of waste.
The children basically lick the frosting off and throw the rest away. It is the same way for frosted donuts.
As for a place to purchase, I love Market Street. You are correct about store bought... and be careful about the toys that are on top for decoration and selection of flavors. Stick with a basic and go for it.
Happy Birthday to your boy!
Any grocery store bakery will be able to hook you up...like another poster said at this age I don't think it matters that much!
I used to work in the bakery at Albertson's... Anyway, something that we do, is get the boys a 'Maple Bar Cake' instead of cupcakes! The bakery cuts each maple bar in half, then lines them all up in a rectangle, just like a regular cake, then the cake decorator or baker frosts the top of the donuts with the Maple frosting and writes on the top and decorates however you like. Then at school, since they are already cut, it's easy for the teacher to just pull it apart and everyone gets half a donut and it's always a huge hit with all his classmates, as well as the teachers! Right after I started working there someone came in and ordered this, and I had never heard of it before, since then I totally co-opted the idea and it's been great!
Just a little something I thought I would share, my boys all LOVE donuts and it is an easy option that is a little different than the standard cupcakes, and it is MUCH cheaper, basically a little more than a dozen donuts instead of $20+ dollars for cupcakes.
~Happy Birthday to your little man! This Friday is the beginning of 'Birthday Bonanza' at my house!! I have 4 boys who all have birthdays in October! I will have a 9y/o on the 12th....a 21y/o on the 18th....a 18y/o on the 21st....and a 7y/o on the 25th!! *My Mother will be 57y/o on the 15th as well. So needless to say, we are so POOR this time of year! Ha!!
Whole Foods has good cupcakes. The teachers seem to like them, at least. :)
Sam's club has yummy cupcakes that are also a good price.
Sam's club if you can. 30 cupcakes for $13 and change :)
I always send in the mini cupcakes or mini Lofthouse cookies.
Also, white or yellow frosting is less messy.
Vanilla or white cake is less messy.
I have also sent in 3 boxes of twinkies
I have also sent in 3 boxes of Orange Hostess cupcakes.
I'm going to guess that PISD has the same policy as Keller ISD and they have to come from a grocery store. It goes along with the allergy issues and the food service standards the schools have to follow. They have to come from a commercial bakery with a printed commercial label. So I'd just go with the minis from somewhere like Kroger, Market Street, Etc. All are pretty good and truly, kids only care that they're getting a special treat. Also on the minis it's not just the parental appreciated lower sugar amount but also the teacher's that the kids can eat them easily without much mess.
I just get that stuff from the grocery store bakery I always go to. It doesn't have to be fancy and expensive, esp in K where they don't know the difference. You can probably bring other things too, instead of cupcakes, which are so messy. How about mini-muffins, or cookies (be careful of no nuts, many kids are allergic). My son is bringing "fruit by the foot" fruit roll-ups this week for his birthday in preschool. He picked it out and it's pretty non messy, but pure junk food - right up the kids' alley!
