Any advice on using probiotic for children. I saw one at cvs called culturelle that you sprinkle in a drink. Is it good for kids, does it help immune system and when they are on antibiotics? Neither of my kids have constipation so i was worried id i give them this will it make them have more bowel movements or constipate them. Also how often do you give them this, just while taking antibiotic for sinus infections or do you give them a probiotic daily ? Thanks

What can I do next?

I use the culturelle for my DD. I sprinkle it in drinks or in cereal or whatever. Haven't had the antibiotic issue but have heard the same thing that Shelley said. I know for myself I have used a probiotic during or after antibiotics so I don't get a yeast infection and it seems to work.

I don't do it everyday, more like every other. There is also a chewable one if your kids are old enough.

I have used Culturelle when my kids are on antibiotics. It works great. I just open up the capsule and stir into into their drink. They can't even taste it. Our doctor suggested it, so I always keep some on hand in case my kids have to take an antibiotic. My daughter would get such bad diaper rash from antibiotics, but this really helped a lot. I also give my kids yogurt on a daily basis when they aren't sick.

Hi, both my girls are on antibiotics right now for things that would just not clear up on their own. I was using it for both girls but my youngest who got put on a stronger one started having really bad diarrhea, so I started using it for her 2x's per day. Don't know if it's that that is helping her or just her little body being adjusted to the medicine but our dr office and the pharmacy said that the meds that she's on will eliminate bad bacteria from the body but it would also eliminate some of the good bacteria so when you give them the probiotics it helps give some of that good bacteria back. They also said you could use a yogurt with the live cultures in it. Good luck, this has been a horrible winter for our family and illnesses. Hoping it ends soon!

Culterelle works great. I give it to my toddler whenever he is on antibiotics. I start giving it few hrs before I start him on antibiotics. Earlier he always had issues while on antibiotics, but with culterelle he does great. I just mix it with little milk and give it to him. I sometimes give it to him like medicine in a syringe so that he drinks all of it. When he was little , it was half packet a day. Now that he is almost 2, he takes I packet a day. I use culterelle that is for kids not the adult one. Totally recommend it.
