Hi A. When my little girl would get fussy I would put her in a nice warm bath with Johnsons & Johnsons Bed time bath and it worked everytime!!! Also try looking up on baby massage. I went to a class for that in my area and it always helped calm fussy babies down as well as me : ) Hope it gets better. ~J.

Does she seem to have excessive gas? My son had colic for 6 months and he cried nonstop. Is she on formula? Does she only do it during the day or is it day and night? Does she only cry when you put her down? Sorry to ask so many questions. Could be a few different reasons, but I just want to ask the questions before I go giving some pointers:-)

Hi~
7 Weeks was my week of tears (hers and mine) with my daughter, too! For her it seemed to be a major growth spurt time. She couldn't possibly want to eat again is what I thought - but she did. She started eating every 2 hrs. instead of 3 hrs. at that age. So try another feeding and see what happens. Also, we checked ou the video "Happiest Baby on the Block" from the library (there is a book, too, but who has time to read with a newborn, right). The video is sooooo cheesy and poorly done, but the tips are actually very useful! I would give it a try. She loved swaddling, being in a swing, and having white noise to sleep at that age. It will get easier!!!

Boy I can feel your pain...my 2 month old has spent the whole afternon crying! Swadeling helps, the best thing is tonot get upset yourself...she will pick-up on that.
Putting rice cereal in her bottle is not a good idea her digestive system is not mature enough to digest it and could make her more upset.
Be patient and love her!

Hey -
Have you heard of the Dunstone (?) language? I think that is the name - it was on Oprah when in Nov 2006(i think) and it was this lady who had a gift with sound and through a lot of research "decoded" baby cries. I heard about it when my youngest was 5 weeks old and it made a HUGE difference - HUGE!!! There are 5 basic cries, I wish I could remember them all, but the hungry one is like a Neh sound - you need to hear the sound just before the screaming though, cause once they start screaming,,,, well, you know that it is just insane.... Have a look on the Oprah website and I am sure you will be able to find it - it made a world of difference for us - maybe it will help you too
Good luck :)

Have you tried swadling? Wrap her snug in a small blanket and see if that helps. Do you have a Bouney seat that vibrates?

MAybe it's colic?

My kids wanted to be held all the time! You can get some of those carriers to keep them close.

If she seems hungry add a small amount of rice ito her bottle. I did and it helped. Your Dr. will go nuts, but he/she is not there.

Take Care

It sounds like your baby girl could possibly have Colic. My son (first born, who's now 4) did the same thing and I couldn't figure it out until I took him to the doctor. Unfortunately, there is very little known about the cause of colic, other than it can certainly be "gas" related. Try "Mylicon" drops which you can find at any drug store, WalMart, etc. This was a LIFE SAVER to both me and my husband in maintaining OUR sanity, as out little Nathan would start "crying" at exactly 6 p.m. every night until about midnight, for the first 4 months of his little life (then he went straight to teething, but that's a whole other story!) You might also want to discuss this with your pediatrician, as gasiness could be caused by whatever forumula you're using - you may have to switch to a different brand...possibly try a "soy" formula instead of lactose based. This can make a really big diffence in helping with gasiness as well. Even breast-fed babies can have colic. One other thing that really helped with Nathan was to put some "pressure" on his tummy. My husband or I would hold him face down with his tummy up against our forearms, supporting his head in either the crook of our elbow or in our hand. The pressure of his tummy pushed against our arm (or across your lap, etc.) really seemed to help. Try also swaddling her and laying her on her side or tummy...it seems to help expel gas, whereas being on their backs does not. Just make sure to never put her down like this without supervision! I hope some of this information helps, but the best advice I can give is to talk openly and candidly with your pediatrician - give him/her as much detail as possible so he/she can make the most accurate diagnosis. I'm sure its nothing serious though, and your daughter will "outgrow" whatever it is that's causing her distress. If it is Colic, although there is no defined or clear remedy for it, take solace in knowing that it WILL go away and that its only temporary. My son was so bad that I didn't want any more kids but, fortunately, that all changed as soon as his Colic went away. I'm now the very proud mother of not only my adorable, loving 4 year old son, but an absolutely BEAUTIFUL baby girl, turning 2 on St. Patty's Day! Best Wishes to you and your family.

She could have colic. Try gas medicine, or hylands gas remidee. If it gets really bad and takes a bottle talk to your doctor about switching formula.

My son would fuss when he was tired and if we let him get too tired he would cry and not be able to fall asleep. What I did was at the first sign of fussiness I would get him to sleep before he got overly tired and upset.
