Hi
daughter Sofia - 2 almost 3 - bday in July - we finally switched her from a crib to a toddler bed...took off the front of crib ...now its a toddler bed. She used to take 2-3 hour naps - 12:30 / 1 pm to 3 pm ish. Now she refuses to take a nap. Help. I only got her to take a nap by having her fall asleep in the car and then carefully carry her in. I also did start potty training 2 1/2 weeks ago....its going well. Bedtime for a week had been awful with her screaming and wanting one more book...continously...taking up to an hour and half to get her to bed...now fortunately my husband helps me put her to bed...by playing a sound game with her...after I read a story or two...so that is good. Its the nap now...that is the problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions????

Today I plan to be driving during her nap time...to get to sleep...and take a nap while we are out.

Thanks bye K.

What can I do next?

I just converted my son's crib to a toddler bed and had the same problem. The best advice given to me was to not make it in to a big deal. it turns nap time into a game. We also will just let him stay up in his room during nap time. sometimes he plays the whole time and more often than not he plays for about 45 minutes then curls up in his bed and sleeps.
Good luck cause there are some days that are more trying than others.

I put my daughter in a bed at 18 months omly because she could get out of her crib. It was so bad at first but I just closed the door and she would end up sleeping on the floor. sometimes she would stay in. This only lasted a few weeks and then she learned to stay in it. I think you should just be constant with putting her down and make her stay in her room untill she takes a nap. Or you could just put it back together so she will sleep. Then when you think she is ready just put her in a twin, and make a big thing of it.

My eldest daughter stopped taking naps at around 2 years old while my second loved her naps until she was 5. I raised them the same, but one was ready to stop napping sooner. This may be the case, or maybe she is trying to adjust to a lot right now and is having some difficulty, not to mention she is 2 and testing boundaries.

Sometimes I could get my older one to nap (if I could tell she was tired) by saying, "You don't have to go to sleep, just lay down and be quiet for a little while." This gave the option to not feel pressured to sleep, but she would often fall asleep anyway, because she was quiet and laying in bed. At nighttime, I would preframe that we would read one book then it was quiet time. "Quiet time" rather than "time to go to sleep" seemed to work better when she was being resistant.

well i have to say that i've been wanting to put my 15 months old baby-girl in a toddler bed since she turn 1. I went to the store and actually i buy her a toddler bed but when i got home my mom (that when to visit us that they)made me realize that Deeana sleeps naps and at night by her self because the crib keep her inside and she cant get out so she falls asleep....if i take away the crib she will never sleep by her self again. So i put the new toddler bed i just buy in the garage-storage-room till she get a little bit more older.

SUGGESTION: put her crib back on.....maybe she is not prepared to toddler bed yet....wait till next year or
skip nap time hours and by the time of sleep at night she will be so tired she will fall sleep by her self.

good luck

i would put the front of the crib back on and see if that helps. she might just not be ready to be in a toddler bed. our daughter has been in a toddler bed since she was 11 months old (due to her height) but we have never had a problem. from what i have heard most babies are in cribs until they are around 2 1/2 to 3 years old
