Crib Sheets

Can anyone recommend a great crib sheet? I struggle with getting the regular ones on and I considered the Ultimate Crib Sheet, but read a review that frightened me. One reviewer claimed that the sheet snapped and somehow his child ended up underneath it. The crib sheets I currently use seem toosmall and the mattress seems to "bunch up" and won't stay completely flat. I appreciate any/all insight. Thank you!

Thank you all so much for your recommendations! This is the first time I have used mamsource and I will definitely use it again - what an excellent resource! I think I am going to try both the Pottery Barn and the knit sheets. Thanks again & God bless each of you!

I received crib sheets from Land's End for a baby shower and I love them. They are soft and plenty big for the crib mattress and easy to put on becuase the material is strechy. They are so great that I never messed with any other sheets even if they were super cute and went with my son's crib set.

Pottery Barn Kids makes a good sheet. Lasted through the toddler years in his toddler bed for me. Never fought it placing it on the mattress - even if I was using a thick mattress cover.

I really like the knit Koala Care sheets from Babies R Us. Super soft and fit the mattress with no problem. My twins have used them for 8 months now without any negative issues. Hold up well in the wash too.

I would agree with some other responses - the knit Koala ones are so easy to use. Don't waste your money on the rest.

We used the Ultimate Crib Sheet for our DS and it was awesome - I never, EVER had a corner come off, even when he was a toddler. There are 6 snaps, so I can't imagine how a baby ended up under the sheet unless the parent didn't snap it properly - and the snaps are extremely secure when snapped. I wouldn't let one review scare you - these sheets are well worth it (I'm due with baby #2 any day now and we're STILL using the first set of sheets - they hold up that well!).

Hi, A.,
The best sheets made for my money, no matter the size of the bed, come from Land's End. The crib sheets come two in a package. They are pricey but if you go to Landsend.com and check overstocks, you may find some that are clearance priced.

I would consider getting a better mattress that doesn't bunch up. I think a tight fit crib sheet is safest for my little boy to sleep on. He is six months old and quit a wiggler in his sleep. He manages to move all over the crib during the night and even his naps so a loose fitting crib sheet might come loose and he could get tangled in it.

My mattress is very firm and bend very little, I think it may have bedspring in it.

Hope this helps.

If the ultimate crib sheet is the one that snaps to the bed frame, and just "floats" on top of the mattress instead of actually attaching to it, then that is what I used. I LOVED IT!! It was particularly wonderful when my child threw up in bed and I had to clean it up! I NEVER had a problem with it, and my son was all over the bed. I had 2 so I could take it off to wash it and put another one back on right away. I don't have a low setting on my dryer, so I just hung it over the shower bar to dry. I even used it on his toddler bed. It was a daybed style so I was able to attach it on 3 sides and that was enough. Hope this helps.

I bought the Clouds & Stars Quick Zip sheets two years ago. They are a bit expensive, but well worth it!
They have worked unbelievably well. You have a sheet base that goes around the mattress and the top just zips on and off very easily. No more lifting mattresses out of the crib, no more bunching, no more corners flipping up, etc.
The zipper is completely covered, so my little girl did not even notice it until she turned 2. I have seen them online at BabyCenter and I think they still sell them at Babies R Us.

My favorite have been Carter's Easy Fit Knit Crib Sheets. They are so soft and have been the perfect fit for our crib mattress. I had the same problem of some of them causing the mattress to bow. Since finding these Carter sheets, that is all I will use.

After 6 children and 6 crib experiences, I have never had any problems with crib sheets. I usually purchase them with the whole bed in the bag from Walmart, Babies or us Or wherever.

Babies R us has a really good brand, and cheap and reasonable so you can purchase several so they won't wear out too fast. I thing it is Koala Brothers, or whatever Babies r us has as its cheapest generic brand.

I ordered our youngest son's crib sheets from Land's End. (You can often find some at a discount on their Overstocks pages.) They have elastic all the way around the bottom edge, so the sheet stays under the mattress. The fabric's durable, too.

They are the easiest and perfect!! You simply zip off the top sheet. I have these for my infants crib AND my 9-year olds bunk beds. I only wish they had them for king sized beds. ahah...

Target Circo brand ones are the worst. they do not fit. We have no problems with Koala Baby brand and you get that from Babies R Us.

Check your mattress size, it may not be the standard, it could be longer. That could pose a problem. The mattress should fit snug in the crib and then the sheet fit snug on the mattress. I have issues getting my mattress out and the sheets on the mattress. I have been told that is a good thing, if it didn't fit so snugly, problems could arise. I have used several different brands of crib sheets and they all seem to fit the same.

Though I cant recommend a crib sheet--my youngest is 6.

Have you thought of using the crib sheet elastic straps to put on the corners to keep the sheet tight?

I have found the best quality crib sheets at Toys R Us. They seem to fit better-there are actual seams that create a contour to fit the mattress. I was curious about your foster situation. My husband and I fostered a baby that we were eventually able to adopt. Do you mind me asking where you live, what agency you are using and would you share some more specific details about your situation?

I have found the Pottery Barn baby crib sheets are the BEST! A little pricey but well worththe csot. And if something happens to the sheets they will replace them for you. I owe about 8 sheets and the elastic gave out on one of them after 3 years and they still gave me a new sheet.

Have you considered just buying a new crib mattress? They are not expensive. Around $30.00 at Target. That is where I got mine and I haven't had any trouble with any of my crib sheets. Some where even purchased at Thrift stores and they have all fit perfectly.

Just a thought. Good luck adopting. This country needs more loving foster parents like you!!!!

You can also go to bed bath n beyond and buy sheet garters. They clip on to all 4 corners to prevent sheets from popping off.

I use the ultimate crib sheet with both my boys. They are 2 1/2 and 14 months. I love them and highly recommend it! The snaps do come undone sometimes because they like to play with them but neither of them has ended up underneath it! Yikes! that would take quite a bit of moving around. When I make their beds I use multiple sheets and mattress pads and layer...mp, sheet, mp, sheet, mp, sheet, then the ultimate on top. That way if they wet in the middle of the night I can just pull one off and dont have to worry with changing the whole thing.

Good Luck!

Personally i love the ultimate crib sheet! My son is almost a year now and we have never had a problem. It's great for in the middle of the night quick changes plus it leaves is sheet that matches is bedding looking nice because I don't hve to wash it very often. There are dangers in everything but if you get scared at everything you read you will drive yourself crazy. Hope this helps.
