regardless of model or brand, drop side cribs have been deemed to be dangerous and won't be sold in teh US anymore.. i would chuck it and a buy a safe crib for your little one!
So I keep hearing about these massive recalls on all of the drop side cribs. I have a drop side crib I bought at Babies R Us in 2007. I cannot find the paperwork on the crib nor do I know what brand it is. How do I determine if my crib has been recalled and what model number I have? I am currently using it for my 5 month old.

there is sometimes a model number on the inner side of the crib (bottom headboard area underneath) It ishould be either stamped or a label. If neither then you might be missimg the label and I would call Babies R Us and ask what corse of action you have to retuurn just incase it is a recall.
The government is going to ban the sale of all drop side cribs. I read an article recently (In USA Today I'm pretty sure, but I could be wrong.) that said the FDA recommends not using drop side cribs, as most of them have been recalled, and the rest are in the process of being recalled. They are just really dangerous. If it's not recalled now, it will be. If you can afford to purchase a new crib, better to be safe then sorry.
Drop-side cribs are no longer going to be sold in the U.S., but most companies will offer "fixes," which turn drop-side cribs into stationary-side cribs. You should be able to find the make and model of your crib under the base where the mattress sits, and can then contact the maker. Good luck.
I have a drop side crib and it was a part of the recall. They just sent me some parts to fix it. You can probably find a sticker on the bottom of the crib that has all of the info on it. I had to look under there too since we got ours in 2005 for my daughter and now my 2 year old son is using it and I didn't remember anything about it either. We're changing his to a toddler bed this weekend, so we didn't end up doing the fix, but got the parts in case we give the crib to someone else to use in the future.
