Crib Hardware

So, I'm now the reluctant owner of a crib that I can't put together. It has all the main pieces, but no hardware. Bolts are easy enough to get, but I have no idea where to look for the other parts. Or even what they're called. It's the kind of crib where the sides are connected to the ends with a long skinny metal pole of sorts. This pole has a curve or hook at the top that bolts to the end. The sides then can slide up and down on this pole. Does anyone have any idea what that pole part is called?? Also what is the part called that attaches the "springs" (what the mattress sits on) to the crib. On my other crib this part is a kind of "L" shape with a hook on the other end. The "L" end slides into the springs and the hook hooks onto the level where you want the mattress. I really appreciate any help anyone can give me in naming or even finding a place that has these separate parts. I really need this second crib for my twins that are due in the fall. I would rather have one with all the parts, but whatcha gonna do? Thanks for any leads!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I found some info through the manufacturer. Then I came across a prospective parent who was excited by the project of fixing up this crib. Sold it to her along with the info for half of what I paid for it. Karma came back and gave us a free crib with all the parts the next week:) C'mon boys, we have a place for you to sleep.

Hi L.,

It sounds like you have a crib like I have for my daughter. She doesn't sleep in it anymore, but I don't want to get rid of it yet, it was a much better crib than the new ones are. There are not very many parts to it. You might be surprised that you have all of the parts. There are only four (4) bolts, and four (4) springs and the four (4) rods that put mine together. I can send you a picture of the hardware of mine if that would help you to find the pieces that you are missing.
Hope that helps.

WOW sounds like you got a used crib that wasn't taken care of very well. The mattress I know should sit on some springs that would attach to the inside of the crib on each of the main posts. I have a crib similar to what you're discribing but I do not know the names of the parts you need. I'd definitly try to find a website. Do a google search if you have too and find an manual or instruction book too or you might have to buy a new crib. Good luck!

My suggestion would be to log onto the website of the manufacturer there you should be able to find replacement parts. I once had a graco swing that was broken and i was able to purchase the parts i needed to replace on their website. They also had a 1800 # that was very helpful. Hope you find what your looking for best of luck to you and your husband with that bball team.

Hi L.,

I doubt this will help very much, but the parts you describe sound similar to a crib we were given, but luckily we had all the parts & an instruction book. It is an Evenflo Jenny Lind Single Dropside Crib that converts to a toddler bed. (www.evenflo.com). The instruction book is dated 10/2002, so the bed, though never used, is a model about 5 years old. The book applies to model nos: 012614, 012615, 012616, 012617, 014614, 014615, 014616, and 014617. The model no. on mine is on a sticker on the base of one of the endboards.

I think the pole part you describe is called a dropside rail/rod (2 total). The other parts that work w/ my system are the following: the lower "L" brackets (2 used under the mattress support), the small & large bumper springs (2 each, 4 total), the left & right latch (1 each), cross dowels (4 total), and a bunch of screws (some wood, some machine) and nuts. Depending on whether it has a wood mattress support or a steel support you may need a few more parts.

If you think this sounds like one of your model I could copy & mail my instruction to you. Let me know. I bet 3 boys will be lots of fun!

Good luck! J. (new mom of 8 week old baby girl)
