Creative Ways to Tell Family That I Am Pregnant

What we did was wrapped a little gift and when they opened it there were baby booties inside!

I gave a gift back to each of the Grandma's to be and inside were: Bibs that said "I love my Grandma!"

My mom got it quick but it too his mom a sec.

you can wrap up baby shoes or booties and give them to those you love...

Merry Christmas!! and Congrats!!

Hand out xmas cards with "Our present will be delivered on (due date)". Maybe include the sono image.

Wear a shirt with a big bow on your belly with the message "Best Christmas gift EVER!", "Santa gave us just what we wanted!" or "[daughter's name] asked Santa for a baby brother or sister and she ended up on his NICE list!"

Whatever you do, congrats!!! We are all very happy for you!!!!

We told my husband's parents right around christmas with my 2nd child. I had my first child give them a calender that I put together. It was one that you could just glue pictures on each month, you can get them for a dollar at Target. I filled it up with pictures of family all the way to the due date month then on that page I wrote reserved for baby #2's picture. My MIL loved it! Good luck with your pregancy. Merry Christmas.

My sister in law gave my parents a card when we were all together that had the riddle:
What is something that grandparents can't have too many of?
Everyone thought about it and someone answered "another grandchild". We all thought that was pretty cool.

We told our family at Christmas dinner by putting a baby sock in a small gift bag with tissue and putting the sack on each plate at the table. When everyone sat down, we told them we had a gift for each of them but they had to be opened all at the same time. It was awesome. Are you the same J. P that was not sure she was pregnant last week? If so, congratulations! We told our family early in both of our pregnancies...about the 8th week for the first one and the 7th for the second...we just didn't see the point. Many will tell you to wait until 12 weeks, etc...but we felt like if something did go wrong, then we'd have that support system and peope understood what was wrong versus some obscure thing that no one knew about...As for telling them, maybe find a way to incorporate the 15 month old...like teach her to say baby? I told my husband by dressing my (then 11 mo old) son in a shirt that I had embroidered to say “I am going to be a Big Brother!” When he got home from work it took him about 15 minutes before he read it… I just let him figure it out and he came running to me, it was awesome!

You don’t need to know the gender yet, she will still be a big sister, congratulations!

My kids bought each set of grandparents a book about grandparenting. Since I live in Texas and they live in Illinois, mine was on 'grandparenting from a distance'.

We were all crying!! Congratulations!

Both my sisters just found out they are pregnant. One sister had her son wear a shirt that said Only child, but it was crossed out and had big brother written underneath it (Walmart). And my other sister sent out her Christmas cards with "and baby" written after her daughter's name. She had found "I'm a big sister" shirt at Children's Place, but they didn't have her daughter's size. Another idea is to write "and baby" after your name on the From part on gift tags.

J., Congratulations! When I got pregnant with my daughter we lived out of state. I called my parents and when my Mom answered, I asked if my Pops could get on the extension so I could talk to both at the same time. When he picked up, I said, "Hi, Grandma and Grandpa - how are you guys doing?". They both were so excited - they were laughing and asking questions - it was wonderful! When my daughter was born, my now ex-husband called my parents house and my Pops wasn't there - he road with the Garland police at that time. Mom called the station and asked them let unit 956 know he was a Grandpa and they put it out over the air. The police used to do this thing with their mikes where they would click them on and off to each other in acknowledgment. The clicking went on for several minutes, plus every other officer they passed that evening flashed their headlights or red/white/blue lights at him. It was a really wonderful night for him (as it was for all of us!). We've lost my Pops now, but we have such wonderful memories of how much he loved his Precious Princess. My sister told the family that she was pregnant with her first child at a family Christmas dinner at her house. She had a greeting card size envelope with our name printed on it for each family member at their designated place at the table. Inside the card with a copy of the sonogram and it was printed to say 'You are going to be an aunt this year. We are pregnant.' or something to that affect. I still have the card to this day. No one was allowed to open their card until everyone was present so that we could all find out at one time. It was pretty cool! (My two nieces are miracles as they are result of invitro fertilization so the picture included was of the healthy eggs that they had implanted.)

We gave my mother a gift bag for her birthday containing baby items. First she pulled out a pink teddy bear, then a little pink baby outfit, then a bib that said "I love my Grandma". At first she was confused, but when she saw the bib the light came on. Of course, we waited until we knew the sex to tell anyone, but gender neutral items would be just as cute.

I would buy a shirt that has I'm A Big Sister on it and see how long it takes for your family to figure it out.

My sister gave everybody a little photo album with a note that said, 'Dear Aunt & Uncle' or 'Dear Granma & Grandaddy' or 'Dear Cousin' on the inside cover and a sonogram picture on the first page. It was an absolutely priceless - and unforgettable - way to tell us she and her husband were expecting their first child!!!

If your mom will be there get a gift for grandma and make sure it says grandma on it and put a large card on the front addressed to grandma. Sign the card from baby ? (your last name ) and your 15 month olds name. Or go to the party shop and get baby rattle party favors and get your mom a christmas cactus and put these on it to decorate it.

When we were expecting our first, we found out right before Christmas, we took a piece of construction paper and made it look like a movie scren and said coming soon to a hospital near you on or about (give the due date) staring (names that you have choosen, like Suzy Que or Sam Smart) then we wrapped it in a box and gave it to my parents.

I am not too creative, but this is from Family Fun:

This game requires a bit of prep but is well worth the effort. Put a small prize (such as a $10 bill) in a small box, tape it well, and gift wrap it. Put the box in a bigger box, wrap that box and put it in another, and so on, wrapping it as many times as you have the boxes and the patience for.

With everyone sitting in a circle, the youngest chooses a number from 1 through 6 and rolls a die, then passes the die to the next player. The first person to roll the chosen number puts on two oven mitts and tears into the present. The other players continue rolling the die. The next player who rolls the chosen number grabs the mitts and takes over the unwrapping. The person who unwraps the actual box with the prize gets to keep it.

you could add a small baby figure in the box---it would make everyone think for a minute and then you could tell them. The person who opened it could keep the baby figure and money if you put both in....

You could make up a Christmas card with a blank circle and question mark in it for the soon to be 4th member of your family and then not say a word! You and your husband could be standing there and one of you is holding your daughter and you could photoshop in another baby in the other person's arm with the circle and question mark for the face! I wrote a quick little poem with the last line being something about we will then find out if we have pink or blue--I put a line of the poem in four different packages (had four people) and then made them open presents one at a time and read their line of the poem!

My favorite "pregnancy announcement" idea of all time is this:

Assemble as many friends and family members together as possible for a photo. YOU hold the camera and as you say, "Smile..." add "We're pregnant!" or "We're going to have another baby!" or whatever you like. Then take several pictures & capture the expressions and excitement forever!

We are due with baby #2 in August and we recently told my parents in a fun way. We wrapped up the sonogram picture (we had an early ultrasound) in a box with Christmas paper. We gave it to them and told them that it was an early Christmas present. As they were unwrapping it we told them it was their big Christmas gift but that we had to special order it and it would not arrive until August. The look on their faces when they realized what was going on was priceless! It is a memory to last a life time.

Another idea is to get a two seater wagon or stroller. Rope off one seat with your little girl's name and rope the other seat off with a little sign that says "Reserved".

Congratulations! When my neice found out she was going to have another baby, they got a t-shirt for their 20 month old daughter. On the front it says "turn me around" on the back it says "I'm going to be a big sister". Then she wore the shirt when they went to see the family.
