.
morning,
ive noticed her lately that when i bend my knees make like a "creaking" noise, it doesnt hurt or anthing, its just wierd,
i am 30 years old if that matters. anyone experience this?
.
I had this.
The doctor said it was because my cartilage there was
gone? So the patella and the whatever used to rub
together. Yuck.
I used to run a lot.
Still have the sound but I take much better care of my knees now:
no more running (always used good running shoes & chaned them a lot).
I've just dealt w/it and "baby" them making sure not to make them worse
Double check by asking YOUR doctor.
Have you every banged your knee up?
My right knee creaks.
In my teens I rearranged the living room furniture.
That night I went to look out the window, the room was dark, forgot I'd moved the couch, went to kneel on it and slammed my knee on a corner of the end table.
It shattered my cartilage.
It doesn't hurt, but anyone who puts their hand on my knee when I bend it can feel if crunching/creaking a bit.
Mine creek and have for about 10 years (I am 31). I was a cheerleader for 11 years and in gymnastics for 6 of those years so think that has something to do with it. It does not hurt and only happens when I go up/down stairs or do squats or lunges. I have recently started taking Glucosamine with Chonditrin so hopefully (based off other posters) that will help!
That is probably not arthritis, most likely cartilage damage. I have had both knees scoped because of damage when I was a child, gymnastics if you were wondering. Little bits float around and when they get between the bones your knees pop and make strange noises.
I have no cartilage left in either knees but they don't grind.
I am 36 and take glucosamine/chondroiton and it has helped tremendously.
Good luck and best wishes at easing the creaks!!
My doctor told me that the cartilage between my knees is wearing away. I ran alot too when I was younger and played soccer and softball in highschool. I still workout 4-5 times a week doing kickboxing and zumba. The only time it really hurts is if I have a tough day at work. (I work a 12 hour shift at a hospital so you can imagine the running around I do) And they will swell up a bit. I just use bengay or heating lotion. Just keep moving. And stay away from stairs!
My knees have creaked, snapped and clicked since my early 30's, which means for more than half my life. I keep expecting to start having knee trouble, but so far, so good.
I do occasionally experience a little catch in one knee or the other when straightening, which I think is a small piece of cartilage getting ground up. But it's not seriously painful. So you may not have any real trouble, in spite of the worrisome sounds.
I am 34 and have had the creaking knees for about 10+ years. I worked in construction and played a lot of competitive volley ball when I was younger (lots of diving on my knees). I figure my cushioning (not technical term-lol) is shot. I take a glucosamine/chondroiton extra strength for 50+ supplement and that helps- with in a few days I can go up and down steps with out hearing my knees creaking.
Sorry to tell you this, but that is arthritis.
Stay active. That's your best defense.
I have had that since my teens. I had an MRI for an injury on my knee and a coincidental finding was that I have moderate arthritis. I think that may be the creaking but my knees don't hurt so I don't worry about it. The orthopedic said it was my age:) I was 37 at that time.
