Try rubbing the stains with a solution of 1 parts laundry detergent, 2 parts water, 2 two parts baking soda. I've never used on crayon stains, but its works on every other stain I put it on. Hope it works for you.
My lovely 4 year old son has a bad habit of putting things in his pockets and leaving them. I try to check pockets before doing the laundry, but sometimes I forget. Well, I just washed a load of clothes with red, blue, green, and yellow crayons in the pockets of my son's shorts. I now have a full load of clothes that look like I tried to make them tye-dyed. This is a huge problem because 2 of the outfits in the wash were handmade by my mother-in-law for my 19 month old. These are beautiful smocked outfits that cannot be replaced. I am so upset. I tried using Spray-N-Wash then rewashed the clothes, but it did not work. There is still blue, red, and green crayon all over the clothes. Please, if anyone has any advise on how to get it out, let me know. Thanks.

Hi K.! had the same thing happen to me years ago, and what finally got all the crayon out of the load of clothes was M-30, it comes in a tub and the only place I've found it is at Dollar General, I believe thats brand-specific to them. It's kind of a greasy goo, but youll be amazed at what this stuff can get out of clothes. Plus it's only $1 or $2! Good luck!
I had the same thing happen a few months ago and soaked the clothes in that "oxyclean" stuff that you can buy for stains. Then washed them again. It got a lot out, but not all. Then I did the soaking again and then pre-treated with some regular "shout" and then washed again. Voila! Stains gone.
Wishing you luck with it...
Ok this is going to take some doing. You need to have a warm iron and a white cloth.turn the clothes inside out, lay down the white cloth and lay the clothing on that. Slowly move the warm iron over the clothing so that the warmth from the iron melts the wax and it transfers to the cloth. You will have to keep moving the white cloth. This will take time to get most of the wax and color out. If, after you have done this, there is any color left on the clothing, soak in 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water. Let soak for a while, take a spray and wash and spray well, see if you can blot out the rest of the stain and then wash in the warmest setting for the clothes. That did it for me, but it took a long time. Especially after you have washed them several times already and dried them, most of the stain may be set. You can try it on one piece of clothing to see if it works.
Good luck.

Go to crayola.com and look under the for parents section and then stain tips. I hope you get those stains out...I would be upset too. Good luck!
Hi K.,
Here is what my Queen of Clean book says about getting out crayon: "Place the stained area on a pad of paper towels and spray with WD-40 Lubricant. Let stand for a few minutes, then turn the fabric over and spray the other side. Let sit for a further 10 minutes before working undiluted dishwashing liquid into the stained area to remove the crayon and oil. Replace the paper-toweling pad as necessary. Wash in the hottest possible water for the fabric, along with your normal detergent and appropriate bleaching agent (depending on whether the clothes are white or colored). Wash on the longest wash cycle available, and rinse well." Best of luck! I hope you get the stains out - I always hate stain removal!!

Try Dawn dishwashing liquid.
What a panic. I have been able to remove virtually any stain with my Shaklee laundry products. There is a laundry booster called "Nature Bright" that you can use to soak the stain out. A great alternative to bleach. It even works for stains on dark clothes. You are welcome to check out my website at: shaklee.net/bethroberts. I will be happy to send you a sample to try. Crayons are like a waxy material and hot water seems like it would set the stain, but this works great on lots of stains. My # is on the website. I am a 42 y/o mother of 5 y/o boy. I do lots of weird laundry!
The same thing happened to me, and I was able to get ALL the crayon out. I had crayon on my new white sheets that were almost $200! I didn't realize I had a missing crayon until after the drying phase- even worse! I put everything back in the wash with some "Goo Gone".
I cautiously applied Goo Gone to the stains on both sides and let sit for a few minutes.
Then apply liquid dish soap on top of the Goo Gone and work in with a toothbrush. You will actually see the crayon breaking up and the color lifting into the soap.
Put the treated clothing back into the washing machine for a wash with hot water (or as hot as your clothes will allow).
To my amazement it worked to remove the stains! I also used Goo Gone to remove crayon from the dryer drum.
It ended up taking 2 loads to get out all the crayon, but it is all gone with Goo Gone. Good Luck!
Hi, I noticed one of the responses you got talks about a product from Melaleuca called Sol-U-Mel and thats exactly what I was going to suggest, hahaha. Its liquid gold really, it does amazing things and has removed the absolute most impossible stains I thought would never come out.
If you're not already talking to someone about Melaleuca I'd love to tell you about it.

Hi K.,
My daughter did this about 4 years ago when she was 3 and it was with a load of white clothes. I used oxyclean and it got the stains out. What I did was mix oxyclean with warm water until it dissolved in an old (big) dish detergent bottle. Then sprayed it on the clothes going into the washing machine. HOpe this helps. A.
I have been really impressed with Clorox for colors. It has gotten out all my stains, most of the time on the first wash and always on the second one. I usually pretreat with some of the clorox and then wash with it as well. It explains it on the label. Hope this helps.
I wish I'd asked this question when we washed a red crayon in with a load of whites about six months ago. I couldn't get it out completely, so good luck!!
I take all of my stuff to one of my friends house to get stains out and every time she just looks and me and tells me to "go buy some Biz, it works everytime". GL
My step-daughter did the same thing and we used WD-40. I know it sounds crazy but it worked with alot of srubbing. I made her do the srubbing and since then she hasn't washed anything in her cloths. Not all of the crayon came out of every piece of clothing but most of it could be saved. You have to spray it on each spot and scrub the spot then re-wash the cloths a couple of times. Good luck!
this is not helpfulk im sorry, but the same thing has happened to me, only through different fault. im 23 with 2 boys and waited tables til i started staying home with them, and often left loose crayons that i found behind booths in my aprons. I ruined many clothes like this, including my fave white t i bought to remember a festival my hometown has, I tried to get it off, but it didnt work. it only faded after many washings. good luck!
Try spraying WD-40 on the spots. This dissolves the crayon and is great for crayon marks on floors, walls, and washable furniture, too. You may need to scrub it a little. Follow up with some dish detergent to get out the greasy WD-40. Try this on some of the not-important-to-you clothes first to see how you like it. :)
I have heard to spray WD40 on the stains and then wash them...you could try that
Try Goop. It is a hand cleaner for mechanics and can be found in the automotive section at Wal-mart or Target. It is great on laundry! Good luck!
This will be a long and tedious task, seeing as you have a whole load of clothes with crayon on it, but use an iron and paper towels to remove the wax. Place a paper towel over the wax and glide the iron over the towel to soften the wax and it will transfer to the paper towel and off the clothes. It works!!!! Good luck hun.
Hi you can try power spray. It took out permenent marker out of my sons red wings jacket. It took a little bit of work, but it came out. Then you can re-wash them, but if you have already dried the clothes it is probably already set in and i am not sure if it will come out then. I have heard toothpaste also but for walls, tables and ect. Not sure if it will work on clothes. Good luck and god bless
have you let them dry to see if you can flake the wax off? if not try that if you have tried that i would call the company and ask. good luck
Greased Lightening seems to work on a lot of things - it has worked for us with ink washed with the clothes.
Go to WWW.Crayola.com On the left-hand column, click on parents and then stain tips. It takes through a short series of lists to help you. I would try it on one of the least favorite outfits before the hand-made stuff.

If you want a natural, safe way to remove the stains, I use products from a company called Melaleuca that I have been shopping with for years. They have something called Sol-U-Mel that is truly amazing for 100's of uses. I had the same thing happen to a load of laundry & removed every bit of the crayon with the Sol-U-Mel, PreSpot & their laundry detergent, MelaPower. You can email me directly for more information, and check out http://www.switchingstores.com/mommyjob.
Go to the Crayola website and it will tell you how to get it out, but I seem to remember that when the same thing happened to me the solution involved WD-40.
This happened to us too. Go to the Crayola website. They have a section on removing the crayon. I think one thing that helped us was the ironing technique that they mention. Good luck.
Oh no! I really have no idea how to get crayon out of clothes. But it looks like you have a lot of good responses and things to try. If none of them work I would ask at a Dry Cleaner. Good Luck!
~Make sure and update us on what works. I would love to know because it could be me next! :-)
I don't know if anyone else replied yet..
I'm not 100% sure it works for crayons, but this works for wax, and crayons are mostly wax I think. Set your iron on low, put the clothing on the board, crayon side up, and put a brown paper bag over the wax. Iron slowly. The heat will melt the crayon, and then it sticks to the bag.
Good luck!
check the crayola website, I know they have laundry solutions as this type of things happens all the time. I have a friend who checked it out and the solution worked for her. Good luck.
I have a great book, Talking Dirty with the Queen of Clean by Linda Cobb. I have not used the method I am about to describe from her book but I have done other things from her book and they have worked. Here is what she suggests for removing crayon from fabric:
Place the stained surface down on a pad of paper towels and spray with WD-40, let stand a few minutes, turn over and spray the other side. Again let sit a few minutes. Apply dishwashing detergent and work into the stained area, replacing the toweling as it absorbs the stain. Wash in the hottest water for the fabric you are working with using your regular laundry detergent and all-fabric bleach.
Hope this helps!

ooh....we have washed crayons before...try soaking in oxiclean...may have to soak for a day or 2..then wash...it may pull the stains right out...let me know if it worked..good luck!!
There is a product called S32 (liquid in a gold/yellow bottle)(dirt cheap by the way) that I buy at Publix that really has amazed me at some of the things it's gotten out. Also check RealSimple.com-I think they have a stain removal guide somewhere on the site. Or check at the craft store for Carbona stain wizards (different formulas for different stains). I feel your pain as my daughter got black Sharpie all over a little smocked bishop. Luckily it was white, so bleach was an option. Good luck!!!
First, if there are still clumps of crayon clinging to the fabric, put it in the freezer for about half an hour, then scape of all you can (this works for gum too!). Next, get heavy brown paper, either parcel-packaging paper or one of the old fashioned paper grocery bags. Put your iron on the hottest setting the clothes will tolerate. Place the heavy paper on top of the crayon stain and iron until you see the melted wax coming thru the paper (this does NOT work for gum, don't get your iron anywhere near gum!). Reposition the paper to a clean spot and iron again. Repeat this until no more wax comes thru the paper. This is a long tedious process, do not expect it to come off easily, but it will come. This will not leave it, "looking like new" but will remove most of the mess, leaving only a faint spot. After you've gotten as much as you can off with the iron, paint the remaining spot with peanut butter and throw it in the wash (this step also does also work for gum. Can you tell I have 7 kids?)If any stain still remains, try the ironing step again.

Try Dreft stain remover. I've had great success with it. You may to wash it several times (don't dry it) I have also used OxyClean stain remover and it works well also. I swear by the Dreft spray though............it has worked miracles for me. I use alot but it's worth it. Good Luck. I know how special handmade outfits can be.
