Crawling and Sitting up on Their Own

Hi A.! My name is K.. I have an 8 month old son...so I know what you are going threw! My son started sitting up around xmas. they sell these new little foam chairs. they are really cute. I believe I got ____@____.com loves it. its low enough to the ground where he can still play with his toys. it is also safe enough where they can't wiggle there way out of it. i wish I could remember the name of it...but I know walmart has them look in the baby section.

I think my children were all at the late end. I have 4 kids and they all started sitting up and crawling at about 10 months. I have had many friends say their kids were much younger though. My 8 1/2 mo. old refuses to even be on her belly, so who knows when she will do anything!

that sounds about right my daughter is starting to get the hang of the crawling thing so i say by the end of this month she will be crawling she is 6 months

my son is 6 months and is already rolling from front to back and he doesn't sit on his own yet but with support or in the bumbo seat. he will sit on his own for a minute or less then tumbles forward or sideways and ends up on his stomach. they say babaies usually sit up on their own anywhere betwwn 6-8 months and crawling follows shortly there after. what i do with my son is sit him upright supported with a pillow behind him or between your legs and see how he does on his own, he will tumble eventually but my pediatrician says this helps them to get to sit on their own. my son when on his stoamch schooches forward with his legs if he wants his binky or toy that he can;t reach. so it is just a matter of time before he will reach these milsetones and then before you know it he is walking and off to running. enjoy your time with hiom every moment means the world becuase you never get this time back. i hope this helps.

Seems to me that your son is right on target doing what he needs to. My son (who is now 10 months old) starting really rolling over about that time and was sitting up on his own at about 7 months or so (still wobbling around but sitting up) And just in the past couple of weeks started crawling. I would bet that he won't be crawling for at least 4 more months. If he started this early crawling I would be very surprised. GL!!!

Hi! My son is also 5 1/2 months. He has been rolling for a month now. He can roll all over the place. For the past couple of weeks, when he gets on his tummy he will put his legs under his belly. Our daycare provider thinks he will probably be crawling soon. He will sit up whenever we have him in the sitting position as long as we have him between our legs or propped up. From day one, he has been doing things a little ahead schedule, two days after he was born a doctor came in to check on me and he lifted his whole head off of my chest and turned it to see the doctor. They were amazed. We will definetly have our hands full with this one. Our son's doctor said that now that babies don't sleep on their tummy's, they develop more slowly than we did when we were babies. Just remember that every baby is different and they will all develop at their own pace. Congrats on your son!!

Babies will develop head to toe- that is, first, he'll lift his head off the floor, then his chest, belly, onto his knees, and poof, he can crawl! That's over time, though. Sitting up alone happens any time between 6 and 8 months. Crawling, 7-12. There's no hard and fast rule that he must be up and going by a certain age, but if he wasn't crawling or moving in some way by a year, then it's time to talk to the doc. sounds like he's right on track. As for helping him learn to sit up alone, simply allowing him to sit up supported (on your lap, in a Boppy or otherwise supported) helps him develop the trunk strength he'll need. Also, wearing him upright in a sling or other carrier while you move around is a great way to help him work those muscles!

WELL YEAH MILESTONES VARY FOR EACH AND EVERY BABY BUT ALL THREE OF MY CHILDREN FOLLOWED ABOUT THE SAME PATTERN ROLLING OVER AT4.5-5 MONTHS SITTING UP ABOUT 6.5-7MONTHS STANDING AND WALKING BETWEEN 9-10 MONTHS SUCH A FUN STAGE.. MY YOUNGEST IS ALMOST NINE MONTHS AND IS CRAWLING AND STANDING UNASSISTED AND IM THINKIN BE WALKIN IN NO TIME .. BUT ON THE OTHER HAND I HAVE KNOWN BABIES WHO HAVN'T EVEN SAT UP YET BY 9 MONTHS ITS ALL ABOUT WHAT YOUR LITTLE ONES READY FOR JJUST ENJOY HIM NOW AND WHEN HIS TIME IS READY HELL BE DOING IT ALL AND YOU WILL SOMETIMES WISH ROLLING OVER IS ALL HE COULD DO HEHE GL

Hi A., my son was sitting on his own at about 6 months and rolled every so often when he felt like it, still at 8 months he isnt very interested in it. But he now ( since he was 7 months and 3 weeks) crawls all over the place and can pull himself up to a standing position and is trying so hard to walk. So give it a little time, keep letting him have tummy time, let him see u crawl, put a pacifier or something that he likes out of his reach... To help him sit, prop him up with a boppy pillow or in the corner of the couch (with u RIGHT there)... and he'll learn to balance. A boppy is the best choice i think. Then one day you'll put him down and BAM, he will not only be sitting on his own (which i think he needs to master b4 crawling), but he'll all of a sudden figure out what to do with his legs and just start crawling after you! Its absolutely amazing how they learn little by little! So good luck and just keep letting him have tummy and play time, he'll get there! Esp. if he is already rolling!

Sounds like your son is really on target. My son rolled over at 3 and a half months and sat at 6. On the other hand, he never really crawled. He sort of pulled himself with only his arms (Army commando-style). It was pretty funny to watch, actually. He did it all over the house. This was from about 9 months on. He walked at 12 months and only after that did he actually crawl on all fours. From what I have read, this is very normal. My friend's son did the same thing. So don't worry if your son doesn't actually crawl on all fours - this is in the pretty normal range of things. And never hesitate to ask your pediatrician, either, if you suspect something isn't right. :)
