Cramping W/o Period**update**

I am not sure what my body is up to. I have been checked out recently and everything checks out perfectly fine. I have noticed that on a semi regular basis that I have cramping for days and I feel like I'll start my period at any moment. Mind you AF is still weeks away. This does not fall into my usual cramps and the like before I get AF either. I have also had a tinge of blood during sexual intercourse the past few weeks, nothing that lingers or lasts or even spots afterward just something that happens at the beginning and never again. My body has never done this. My doc says everything is fine. What in the world could be causing these things to happen? I'm honestly at a loss.

**Update** This is still going on, but I guess I should've thrown out there that while I've had 2 children I've never carried a pregnancy to term, I also had my tubes tied back in January. It isn't period cramps at all, there is a pressure that doesn't go away that I forgot to mention, not painful or anything but still there. It almost feels like women feel when you're at the beginning of your pregnancy but considering I've had my tubes tied and I haven't missed any periods and am not due for one until the end of the month testing isn't even an option if that is the case. I will see if I can get the doc to check for cysts and the like but I do have to come up with the coverage($$) for that so wish me luck. Thank you all so much for your input!

What can I do next?

If i was you i would go to a different doctor and get another opionion cause that is just not normal. i had a problem before and my one doctor keep saying i had a bladder infection and it just wouldn't go away so a nurse at my work told me to go see a doctor she knew and i am glad i did cause i never had a bladder infection in the first place i had a cevical problem and he caught it in time before it became cancer. now please don't think you have that but doctors are human just like us they can miss things there not perfect it is always good to get a second opionion.

I would mention the symptoms to your doctor, but I was thinking it could just be that you're noticing ovulation. Some women notice minor cramps and spotting during ovulation (usually a couple week before your period.) I know this is a new thing (so definitely mention it to your doc), but both our bodies and our awareness levels change over time. I know for myself that I became more in tune to my body's signals after childbirth. Good luck to you.

M.,

Go see your OBGYN. I had this type of problem and had no idea what it what then I found out I had a Fibriod. This is like a tumor but non-cancerous. It is very painful. I had mine removed and have been fine ever since. Ask your doc about it....hope you feel better soon!

I recently had a friend find out (12 years after the fact) that her OB left a surgical instrument inside of her body during the removal of a tubal pregnancy. They finally spotted it on an x-ray after she went through years of odd abdominal pain, which went undiagnosed. I have heard about this type of thing happening quite a bit so I wouldn't rule that out either. Whatever it is, I wish you luck with this problem.

I don't really know what it could be, but one thing that popped into my mind immediately was cysts. I had cramping pain on one side, but it didn't feel like regular monthly cramps. The doctor says that cysts can cause all kinds of irregularity. They can prevent your menstrual cycle or cause it to last longer, they can cause cramping or bleeding irregularities. Have you had an ultra sound to check for cysts or fibroid tumors? I would talk to your doctor about that possibly. Good Luck.

M., I would check for cysts too. I had them and didn't realize that the pain I was feeling was actually from the cysts. The cysts can also come and go on their own. My cysts had to be removed surgically each time. I knew after a while when I did have a cyst because I would have the symptoms like cramping before a period but it wasn't time for my period at all. The other thing it could be is ovulation. I began to feel that too after having my two children.

There is also something called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. That is when you have a "bead" of tiny cysts that form around the ovary. As they grown and "pop" at varying times because of there are many, you can feel pain.

Either way, you should go to the doctor and get it checked.

Best to you.

Hi M. -

Please Google "adenomyosis". It's a condition that I came across when I was researching my own symptoms. It does cause occasional irregular bleeding and pelvic/abdominal pain. It's not anything life-threatening, but it is something that progressively gets worse if not treated. I don't think many doctors recognize it, because it can only be diagnosed with an MRI. It also only affects women who have carried a pregnancy to term - something screws up the growth of the endometrium and it kind of goes haywire, grows into the uterine wall, etc.

Anyway - look at some sites, do some reading. If the symptoms they describe sound like yours, I would ask your doctor to schedule you for an MRI.

Good luck!
