What about bug catchers. You can get them from the Dollar Tree and goes with the botanical theme. Water bombs are fun and you can put it all in a Dollar Tree plastic sand pail.
For my son's 5th birthday, we are having a splash party for a bunch of kids at the local Botanical Garden's World of Wonder which has fountains, bubblers and jet sprays all of which come out of the ground. The kids run around a padded area and explore all they have to offer. We will have a picnic lunch together and then I will bring treats for the kiddos.
I should definitely do something with bubbles. But after that, I'm idea-less! The kids will be pretty entertained just running around but I wanted to do something special to differentiate his party from all other visits to the Garden.
So creative mamas, any ideas for me? Thanks in advance!

I don't think you need games. I just had a big party at my house for my 4 year-old daughter. For favors I got big bubble wands from Walmart ($0.97 each), and ordered lavender and green balloons from the party store...tied a balloon to each bubble wand. The balloons look great for the party, and each guest gets to take home a balloon and bubbles. No goody bags, no extra sugar for the ride home.
Consider brightly colored wristbands for the kids in your party to more easily keep track of them at the splash pad.
i think your chance to make it different is at the picnic lunch. Do you ever go on pinterest.com? I'm always seeing really fancy but easy enough to pull off party tables. balloons, you could put the letters of your kids name on each balloon, i was thinking out of paper and tied to the string and spell out his name, a cute table cloth, drinks with added paper labels with son's party or something on them, maybe a skinny rectangluar "trough" filled with blue and green jelly beans or some other candy that looks watery. on the table for kids to munch on.
for favors I like pinwheels, or you can give out balloons that you decorated with (have lots extra), a pair of googles, theater box candy in the party colors with a note saying thanks for coming could work. I'll keep thinking and add to it if i come up w something
food and drinks is enough. bubbles are great to. do not do the balloon thing. as animals can get bits of those stuck in there throats and it kills them. not to mention the mess that the caretaker of the grounds will have to deal with. if your wanting something fun as a take home other than the bubbles then maybe a beach ball or something like that. but i think the bubbles are enough.
I definitely don't think you need to add anything but I totally understand
wanting to differentiate it from their other trips there.
Some ideas:
-You could hand out $5 beach towels.
-Or little beach bags. Dollar Store has them.
-You could bring bubbles anyway but know that they probably won't get used. You can have them there just in case.
-You could get them each a brightly colored plastic mug. Put their name
on it.
-You could get them each a pair of goggles (water related) to take home.
Just let them loose. Food and treats and they are good to go. They are five.
How fun! Well, it sounds like a very entertaining and great place to have a party. If you are feeding them lunch and bringing treats and possibly bubbles too, then I think you are good. However, if you want to do more and can get them to sit down long enough, you could make a flower or caterpillar magnet for the fridge; I would decide which one and the supplies should be fairly inexpensive at a craft store; fits in with the surroundings. Have a Blast!
Bubbles are great, but how about a small pack of water balloons and those water balloon filler uppers ( don't know what their called LOL ) that attach to your hose? You can buy them together at the dollar tree. And Mabye some fruit snacks? Don't do stupid typical goodie bag stuff the kids will toss them. And check out pintrest. Good luck, K. also go to http://m.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=Splash+party+goodie...
I wouldn't do anything. You don't need games. They'll have enough to do at the venue. Just bring food and treats and let the kids play.
