When my kids had cradle cap I used a cradle cap kit (I think Gerber's makes it), but maybe you could make your own. It contained a very thick gel that seemed like very thick shampoo and was the consistency of rubber cement. I rubbed this on their heads, then used a stiff brush to exfoliate the scalp. This usually eliminated it in one go.

Hope this helps!

Walmart has something special in the baby section specially made for cradle cap. I don't know the name of it, but it worked for me.

My grandson has the cradle cap on his head too. He is two and it is right on top. During his bath I soak his head with warm water and use that little soft brush from the hospital with small swirling strokes with some of the baby shampoo. I let it sit then rinse and do again if his scalp doesn't look too red. It seems to help some but doesn't make it go entirely away, but slowly it seems to be improveing.

Hi J.,
When my daughter was a baby she had it too. I used Johnson & Johnson shampoo and very gently massaged it in with her hair brush. That would get rid of all the dead dry skin. After rinsing the shampoo out and getting her all dry, I used a little Vaseline intensive care and gently massaged that into her scalp with my fingertips, followed by brushing her hair with another brush, then putting her little cap on. I did this everyday until it was gone. (about a week and a half) Hope this helps some.

Our son (14 months) had cradle cap really bad. Our pediatrician told us to rub a little baby oil on his head then use a fine tooth comb and comb front to back to loosen the 'scales'. My mom said I also it really bad and that's what she did and it worked great. There is also a baby shampoo (can't remember the brand at the moment) that has winnie the pooh on the front of a green bottle that is supposed to be specifically for cradle cap. His is coming back a bit so I'm planning on getting the shampoo to try...at this point i think it would be too messy to use the baby oil! Good luck!
