Do you know any remidies to get rid of it perm? My daughter gets it off & on since she was a baby. I've been using baby oil to loosen the stuff up & remove but there has to be something I can wash her hair with to help with keeping it abay.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for the feedback. I have tried Head & Shoulders & have been washing her hair every other day. Guess I am washing too much. I will scale back & also try the Tree Oil.

Wash her hair less often... Washing it makes the oil glands over-produce, which makes the problem worse. She only needs her hair washed twice a week or so...

I used to use a soft toothbrush to flake it off (after doing the baby oil thing...) It helped a lot.

If you need to, you can use a *tiny* bit of head and shoulders when you do wash her hair, but be VERY careful NOT to get it in her eyes!!!

My DD had cradle cap bad enough that she actually got a rash down her neck and back, and she had to have a steroid cream to clear it up... The glands in her scalp simply over-produced the oil. Her pediatrician made the above suggestions to me, and they worked well.

Head and Shoulders. Be careful to avoid the eyes when rinsing....One time knocked craddle cap out.

My daughter still gets it and I tried head and shoulders but that only made it worse.

First do not wash it all the time. I only do my daughter 2 or 3 times a week. I have found that tea tree shampoo has made a big difference, BUT be very careful not to get that stuff in their eyes because it hurts like the dickens.

I tried washing more, washing less, Head and shoulders, tea tree oil shampoo, baby oil, nothing helped. What finally took care of it was I used a soft baby brush BEFORE shampooing, i brushed/massaged in a circular motion, in diff directions, etc then washed as usual. It was gone in about a week.

My 3 year old gets it on and off too. I went to the co-op and bought an all natural, nothing added but herbs shampoo that included tea tree oil. I wash his hair 1 a week and it hasn't come back. I did douse his head in olive oil and then combed all the cradle cap out before I started using this shampoo. http://www.everydayshea.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduc...

Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Special Shampoo is amazing stuff--for so many things.

Do you feel you can keep it out of her eyes if you use it on her?

Might be worth a try.

G/L!

for about the first two years my child had this issue. i would suds up her hair and while the soap is still in it put a few drops of burts bee baby oil in her hair weather or not she showed signs of it or not. she was allergic or had sensitive skin to a lot of things this seemed to work. i stopped using this method after she turned two because she seemed to have oily hair and no longer needed the extra oil. the few drops to the suds seemed to help keep it at bay

My son gets it and I cut his hair really short and use olive or coconut oil to get it off his scalp. He also doesn't wash his hair every day.
