I used the baby oil gel instead of the actual baby oil. It worked better and faster in my opinion!!!
Good luck
Hi everyone. I need some help I have a 3 week old baby who seems to be starting to get cradle cap. I was hoping I would be a lucky one and she wouldn't get it-but I don't think I am going to be so lucky. I tried researching the issue but everywhere I read something different and am getting so much conflicting advice. If anyone has any good tips please share them with me. Thanks so much!!!

I know I'll be outnumbered and most will disagree but...Put her on her tummy and it'll go away. If you are nervous buy a motion sensor and it'll give you peace of mind, but babies sleep better generally on their tummies for a variety of reasons...
Hi Rachel!
You can find tons of advice in a response that was on 2-20-08. This topic has come up quite a bit. I even answered to others before. I'm sure you'll find plenty of advice in addition to what you've already got. Good luck!
Hi Rachel,
I'm a mom of 3 great kids. When my kids were born they had no problem with cradel cap, but slowly is started to show.
I found out that while I'm shampoo my babys head, I used the soft brissel baby brush and gently brush in all directions and rinse well. By the end of the week it loosened it all up and her head was pretty again. Best wishes! Congratulations on your baby girl!
loosen flakes with baby brush, put olive oil on the scalp for 10 minutes, then wash with baby shampoo twice to get all the oil. for the 2nd washing use the baby brush to 'lather' the shampoo. rinse, viola! do this twice a week until no more flakes return. olive oil is GREAT for the skin and goes a long way. i dont use baby oil bexause of the fragrance - my kids all have sensitive skin and never did great with perfumey things until they were a bit older.
good luck!
My son had cradle cap too. I would put baby oil on his head and get it really oily, then I took a baby comb and gently would brush along the scalp. It really helped get rid of it. Then after I would give him a bath. Hope this helps
Sounds yucky but rub some Baby Oil or Baby Oil Gel into her hair before bathtime. Let it soak for a few minutes and then use a soft-bristled brush to scrub her head. The cradle cap flakes should come loose. Wash and rinse her hair normally. This is what I did with both of our kids and it was very effective. You may have to do it once a week or so. Good luck!
Hello,
We used Gentle Naturals ($6.50) Cradle Cap. We put it on, let it sit a while while our daughter was playing in the tub, combed it out (fine toothed comb) and then washed her hair with regular baby wash. She gets a bath every other night and it was gone in two baths.
I had it on all my kids and the oil and brushing works great. That said, I had one daughter who had a patch of much longer hair right on top of her head and to get that particular spot to clear up I actually had to use my clippers and buzz her hair really short and then the oil and brushing worked. Good luck and I hope you don't have to do that!
I agree with the other moms. Olive oil works great, then comb or brush it out. I use California Baby shampoo, and it works great for cradle cap.
Good Luck.
