I would check at the local YMCA, park district and fire department. I think they all offer some sort of first aid/CPR training programs to the public. If not, go online and check with the American Red Cross or Heart Association.
I'm looking to renew my c.p.r training cert. but I'm having a real hard time finding a course that is free or very low cost. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I did it years ago through our fire department.

I see another person suggested checking with your local fire department or park district. You may also call local hospital and sometimes high school districts that offer continuing education classes (New Trier Extension or District 113 Continuing Education, for example on the north shore) may offer a low cost class.
Good luck! As a girl scout troop leader, I was required to have current CPR and first aid. Our local fire department offered a low cost option to all the troop moms in our area.
Check with your local Fire Department and Park District. They often offer classes that are inexpensive. Of course, the American Red Cross offers classes. You can check on line for their information.
Check fire departments in your area. I have taken a couple classes and it was $10-$20.
There is a web site where you can get re-certification on line. The laws have changed and you do not have to take a live test any longer. You watch a video (2 hours or so) and then take the test all on line. If you pass the test you can print off your certificate, if not you can re-take the test. The cost is reasonable, about $25 I think. Here is the site:
