I want to do a couples retreat for a long weekend in the up coming year, any suggestions, I live in central Fl and wouldn't mind a day drive north or even south. But I would like to go to a place that will help us reconnect to us 10 years ago. Thanks

What can I do next?

Asheville, NC is beautiful and has many romantic B&Bs as well as The Biltmore w/the Grove Park Inn and so does Savannah, GA. Both are really romantic places with great restaurants and pretty scenery. I don't know what you're "into" but if you love great live music and like to party together, New Orleans is an incredible place. History, music, food and romance -it's hard to beat. Just stay in a really nice place (like The Roosevelt) or choose a highly rated B&B in the Garden District. My advice is to stay off of Bourbon Street unless you've never been there -and then do it to see it -but head to Frenchman instead for really great music clubs and a nice scene that isn't full of outrageously drunk frat boys and conventioneers. For Savannah or New Orleans -you're from central FL so you know -go in the spring or fall! Summer in those places is a lesson in humidity! Jazz Fest in late April/early May is incredible if you're into music and food.

I once went to a wedding on Seabrook Island, SC and it was great! Beautiful and relaxing. It's not far from Charleston (30-45 minutes) so you could spend some time in the city, which has a lot of old, classic charm.

Have fun!

Help you and your husband reconnect? What a wonderful idea.

Read the book, "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands". Get the movie, "Fireproof" and read and follow its companion manual, "The Love Dare."

After you and he have read the book, seen the movie and are working on "The Love Dare", go on a cruise on Princess Cruise lines. Princess was the setting for the TV show, "The Love Boat". They really try to maintain that image. We absolutely loved out Princess Cruise to Alaska.

Good luck to you and yours.

You can check online for Marriage Encounters. It's run by religious organizations, but it's not a religious retreat. My husband and I went to one many years ago, and it was wonderful. You get some instructions about what to talk about and how to talk to each other, but you spend the majority of the time in a hotel room with your partner, talking and writing. It's very intense, and you have minimal contact with others in the group. It's all about your partner, and learning to communicate. I highly recommend it for anyone, even if you don't feel your relationship is "in trouble".
