I just found out I'm about 5 weeks pregnant and I've been having some cramping lately. Sometimes its dull and just annoying but other times it sharp pain. I didn't have this with my daughter, just "morning" sickness really bad. Did anyone else experience this as well? Should I call my doc before my appt.?
The other question is...Is it still safe to pick up my daughter? She weighs about 30 pounds?
Thanks
L.

What can I do next?

i had cramping...i also had tingeing too...so no worries...I'm 35 weeks pregnant but I don't think picking up that much weight that soon in your pregnancy is advisable...dr.'s tell you not to pick up more than 20-30 pounds from all the dr.'s I've spoken with at least and I've seen the inside of an ER too many times for pregnancy...this one and my first, which didn't pan out, but we got this little guy and he's goin good...

I had cramping w/both my pregnancies both boys along w/morning sickness. It's probably from all the pulling and stretching. my dr called it round ligament.

Good Luck. I hope you will feel better soon. Me personally I wouldn't risk picking up your daughter if you could help it epsecially in the 1st trimester when you are so fragile.

God Bless you and your family

Congratulations!!!

I had much more cramping with my 2nd pregnancy. My 1st pregnancy I bled throughout my entire 1st trimester, but my second I just had more cramping. I think it has something to do with everything being different after you've been pg before, but I don't remember the details.

I wouldn't be too concerned if you don't have any bleeding/spotting with the cramping. BUT, if it's worrying you, call. I know what it's like to worry about that sort of thing, and waiting is torture.

As far as lifting your daughter, that should not be a problem at all. My 1st son was 2 when I found out I was pg w/#2. I carried him up until delivery!!

Good luck!!

L.,
I remember having more pains the 2nd time around. More prickly like pains, like my utereus was an old mylar balloon re-inflating.

Unfortunately, after-birth pains get stronger the more babies you have too. I woke up after giving birth to my third thinking I was in labor again, but it was just the after-birth cramping. Something to look forward to!

Congratulations! I always had cramping with all 3 of mine but of course if you are uncomfortable or would rather ease your mind I say go ahead and call your doctor. Are you spotting along with the cramping? If so, definitely call. In regards to picking up your daughter, it's totally safe because your body is already used to doing that and it's not something out of the ordinary for you. I always carried #1 and #2 while pregnant with the next and never had any problems and #2 was a big baby! She weighed 32lbs. at 12mos. She is now 4 and only weighs 38! Just remember to always go with your gut instinct and you won't go wrong. Enjoy this blessed time!

I wouldn't panic, but knowing that you have been trying for such a long time, I would schedule an appointment with my OB adn ask. I had a threatened miscarriage with my first child (who is ABSOLUTELY fine and 3 now!) and I had cramping and bled throughout my first trimester. They were able to put me on progesterone for 16 weeks and everything went fine after that. I would just ask them to do a sonogram and check your hormone levels just to be sure that everything is a-ok. I have a friend who cramped a lot and it ended up being a tubal pregnancy, so I would just be cautious. I know how hard it can be when you try for so long and then you worry that something bad might happen. Better safe than sorry. Good luck and keep us posted!
