So I finally weaned my 13 month old from breastfeeding on May 24th (a Thursday) and before then she was down to only 1 nursing a day. I want to get pregnant again soon but even with all the weaning I haven't had my period yet. So my hubby and I had sex on Thursday the 31st of May, then on Friday the 1st of June I had some discharge. Not a ton but kinda the egg white consistency. But it only lasted that one day. I got excited thinking maybe I ovulated on the 1st. But the discharge only lasted that one day and I thought that when you ovulate you have that discharge for a couple days right? Now yesterday I had mild period like cramps right in the center of my lower abdomine. It lasted on and off all day. So that would have been 4 days after the discharge. Does it sound like maybe I ovulated on that Friday? And maybe....just maybe I'm pregnant?!?!!?!?! LOL It's been so long since I've ovulated and had a period I'm having a hard time remembering what ovulation is like. So what are your thoughts?

Just to make it clear I have not had a period since the birth of this baby (baby #3) So no I have not been ovulating all year or I would be having monthly periods. I know you can ovulate while breastfeeding full time but most, not all, most woman do not. and if I had been ovulating all year I would have had a few periods by now, otherwise I would have like 12 eggs just haning out in my uterus! LOL

What can I do next?

If you haven't been on birth control you have been ovulating for a year, you just didn't have your period. Ovulation can have some very subtle symptoms but for the most part it is a non event. Why do you think people buy ovulation predictor kits and the like.

Oh hun, how old are you? You do not have to have a period to ovulate! An egg that is not fertilized is absorbed back into your body. Do you know how many people I know who got pregnant when they were nursing because they didn't know this either?

Gotta agree with Jo, you've more than likely been ovulating for the past year and it's usually a non-event for a LOT of women. I never know when I'm ovulating there's nothing special that happens on those days for me :)

Good luck on the baby making. Practice makes perfect :)

LOL Jo ... I'm 10 1/2 months younger than my sister because my mom thought this exact same thing ... Nursing is DEFINITELY NOT a good form of birth control LOL

And ovulation and menstruation are two distinct parts of your cycle. While one generally leads to another ... you don't HAVE to have one to have the other.

If the discharge is out of the ordinary for you, then it sounds like, yes, there are changes going on :)

Billings Ovulation Method (BOM) is a form of natural family planning that focuses on identifying the pattern of discharge and sensation to track ovulation. For each woman the pattern the different, so for some the discharge will last only 1 day and multiple days for others.

Something is going on, but this doesn't mean pregnancy is going to happen. My cycle has been messed up since the birth of my second child. i had one period between pregnancies, and then got my period back when my son was about 13 months old. We decided a few months back to try for another kid, and I realized that I am not really ovulating. I get some discharge some months, sometimes one day, other times for multiple days, but there is no "normal."

But I do know you can ovulate and not get your period, just as you can get your period and not ovulate.

For me when I ovulate I do get the egg white consistency and for me it last a few days then stops. I would wait a few weeks then take a pregnancy test if you don't get a period.
