Put some baby vicks vapo rub on his feet and put socks over it at night and at nap time. Works great!
My litle boy has a cold right now with a nasty cough. Is there anything you can give to help calm down the coughing? He can't lay down to sleep without coughing for an half an hour.
Thanks

I don't know about remedies but if it is nasty and stays persistently nasty You could get him tested for pertussis. It causes a very nasty cough like that. If you test within the first few weeks you can take antibiotics for it, but after 2 weeks its too late and pertussis just has to take its course. (4 months for me when I had it, several weeks for my kids.) Even though they had been immunized for it they still got it, albeit not as bad as I did. (Pertussis vacines only last 10 yrs, sometimes less)
This seems to be a commom problem today in our homes. There is so much dust, mold and particles in the air that we do not see that cause several health challenges that our children are picking up today. I found putting my granddaughter in a wellness home changed all her symptoms from cough, headaches, growning pains, sleep challenges and more all disappeared. It all starts in our home.
I would start off with a good air filter in your boy's room. That will help so much. You have to be careful as some of those air filters have Ozone and that produces a toxic gas.

Hope things are better soon.
I just recently tried Triaminic Daytime Cold & Cough (doctor's recommendation)for my 1 year old and it worked amazing. Also Vicks on their chest or feet work and a cool mist humidifier.
I would raise the crib up so his head is elevated and have a cool mist humidifier on during all of his naps and at night. Also a hot steamy bath or shower help. My 11-month old had a cough for about a month and a half. Every time we took her into the doctor's they said she was fine. Finally they ended up giving her antibiotics because it would not go away.
I would rub some vicks vapor on his chest, and try something warm to drink like apple juice with some honey in it..
I heard that rubbing Vics Vapor Rub on there feet works. Sounds crazy, I know.

Dear E., He may have allergies. It's almond season and we've really been suffering in our house. Is he using an inhaler yet? It may be best to take him to the doctor and get him evaluated. I wouldn't let it go for too long. When my second son was 18 months old, he had a bad cough and suddenly told me he couldn't breathe. Sure enough, he wasn't getting enough oxygen and was put in an oxygen tent at Memorial Hospital. The nurses told me it was good I took him in. It's best to be pro-active and get him seen before the coughing gets worse.
