sorry for askiing here, I will probably call the dr's office in the morning but often times i get more complete info there that supplements what they tellme. My ds is 7 yo. He has the sniffled and a cough. This has come and gone since before christmas, It doesn't seem at all like pnemonia, or bronchitis or walking phemonia for that matter, just a cold and some sinus drainage.

my dr has recommended Dylsum in the past, but i'm not finding that it is helping at all. It doesn't seemthat he his having trouble bringiong up what he is coughing, it's very thin, iguess. just a tickley thing is how he is discribing it,

Can anyone recommend any other type of cough supressant so he can sleep??? I"ve propped his pillows up, tried vicks on his feet and the dylsum, but the poor kid needs some sleep and so do i.

tia

We use Mucinex for coughs. I also use lemons and honey. One night I ate 2 tbsp of honey so I would not cough all night. I also put Vick's on my feet and cover them with socks My husband tried it once and is hooked when he is sick. There is also a 4Way nasal spray that has euclyptus in it. I use through out the day. It helps loosen the discharge.

I second the mention of Mucinex! My daughter's pediatrician always recommends it rather than a cough suppressant. Hope he feels better soon!

My friend swears by Triaminic cough strips for her 6 year-old. I haven't tried them yet.

I'd say try Benadryl to clear up the dripping. Also, my sister's dr told her pediacare would work well.

Try running a cool mist humidifier in his room tonight.

If anything, what about Mucinex?

I would not use a suppressant.
that does not get rid of the cause nor the mucus.

Doesn't your Doctor, have ANY idea why he is still sick? All this time?

Sinus post nasal drip, can infect the lungs too.
It happened to me.
It was then, Pneumonia.
So beware.

Coughing is caused by:
Post nasal drip, or
lung issues.
Or both.
