If the price includes the blinds I'd say its a very good deal.
I am wondering if $550 sounds like a fair price for having cellular or "Honeycomb" style blinds installed. They are the ones that open from the top and the bottom and have strings to operate them (some are stringless). We are doing 4 small windows. This quote includes the blinds, which are custom sized, and installation for all 4 windows. I thought the price sounded fair, as it can be nearly $100 for the blinds alone in some cases. I just hate getting estimates and having people come over and trying to fit it into my schedule. I'm tempted to just hire the guy and forget about it. Thanks Moms!

Yes, depending on the brand of the blinds, that sounds very fair. Blinds differ greatly in quality depending on the brand and style. Personally, I disagree with those posters who said it's an easy project to do on your own. The measuring needs to be very precise and I've always had problems with that kind of project. I'm not very handy so maybe it's just me, but I recently got a bunch of new blinds and had them professionally installed. I'm very happy with the blinds and the installation.
Yes, this is a fair price. We built our home this past summer and had cellular blinds without strings installed. We also got a darkening one for our son's room, which was of course more expensive. It was five windows altogether, and I think we paid over $1000 (the windows are very large). We love them, and hopefully they will last forever. Go for it!
If it includes the cost of the blinds I think it sounds reasonable--no headaches for you=YAY!!
If you have access to an electric drill/screwdriver, buy the blinds online (I got mine at www.decoratetoday.com) and just do the install yourself. We got the same type of blinds and it seriously took about 5 minutes per window to install. I did the whole house-full by myself. Piece of cake.
Before you go for it, check out Selectblinds.com. You can literally get the same blinds and have your husband (or you) install them very easily. You could save a lot of money. We did this when we bought a brand new house with no blinds and didn't have the $ for professional window treatments.
Hi C.
Sounds like a fair price.
I used to do marketing for a blinds company on the side.
Depends on what blinds -- brand vs off brand.
If you're located around the 55112 area code, I can have them come by your house- let me know as I still have contact even though I don't market for them.

SOunds like a decent price. Just make sure not to pay him up front but on the day of installation. We ended up buying curtains at JC Penney premade many years ago when we bought our house. We innocently went to a cloth store and had a guy come measure and quote over curtains and sheers underneath for the front of the house (14 windows total) and were shocked at how expensive it was. Something like $800 per window. We ended up doing only 4 - the dining and living rooms.
I haven't read the other answers so I may be repeating... the price seems fair. I would caution re: getting the top/down bottom /up blinds with the strings though. We have them in every room and I really wish I had gone w/ the cordless. I think I thought they would get really dirty pushing them up and down w/ your hands... not sure if they do or not. But I do know that the cords are a nightmare and we don't even move them that much. I would never do the cords again.
Sounds reasonable to me. We did our whole house when we first move in... something like 8 windows, (2 of which were blackout shades also), a door (also with blackout shading), a double window, and then 4 roman shaded windows. I think it was around $2400. So $550 for 4 windows sounds fair to me if they are all top-down bottom-up blinds.
Wow. Who works this cheap? We have a house full of blinds(2nd time) and they were way more.
