I have made rice and then added BOILED hamburger meat and that helps when our cockers are not feeling well. It helps bind things up.
Our Corgi of 4months still does not have a firm stool we took her to vet
of course gave meds and bland diet but still does not seem to have effect
any suggestions. we have had a corgi before but never a problem like this

HI W., we have 10 dogs, & I can highly recommend PMI dog food, we get it at the feed store. One thing we like about it, is it does not have a lot of fillers. The dogs stools are hard & firm, anytime we have tried to change foods, their stools have become very loose or real airy (to many fillers)So we stay with the tried & true. Please let me know if you would like the number & location to the feed store. My sister works for a vet in Carrollton, I will check with her today & see what she thinks & get back to you, T.
What foods are you feeding?
Did they test for Giardia?
Could she have IBS?
Not sure what meds your Vet gave you (Metronidazole?) but you can make your own bland diet too....your Corgi may just have a sensitive tummy and it needs to adjust.
We boil chicken and put in plain white rice....white rice is a binding agent and works like a charm. Also, put a Tbls. of canned pumpkin in each feeding - it's the 'miracle' poop cure that a lot of my clients use!
Hope this helps!

Hi W.,
I have two corgis. The youngest is 9 months and the loose stools aren't normal at all as you suggest. You might consider making sure that the food that you give to her has no gluten (wheat, rye, barley and oats). Dogs can be intolerant to gluten just like people. Also, she may have a parisitic infection, so you might ask your vet about that. They should be able to test the stool - did they do that? Also, you might consider adding probiotics to her food - that will help to add some healthy bacteria to her gut. They make them specifially for dogs. You can find them online at: www.kvpet.com
W.,
same thing happened with our dog. Turns out; he is a vegetarian. He can only digest soy dogfood well enough for firm stools. The food is only available through a perscription and we buy it at PetsMart. Its called Royal Canin Hypoallergenic.
Hope this helps,
K.
