Has anyone tried coolababy diapers? They are sold on ebay, and are from China. They are super cheap and I have seen a couple reviews that are good. Just wanted to see if anyone else had any experience with them.

What can I do next?

Hi A.,
I bought coolababy diapers for my sister's baby who isn't born yet. I can't attest to their quality as we haven't used them yet. What I can tell you is that the diapers are bright pretty colors, very soft, size adjustable, and including what I paid for shipping I figured out that I spent approximately $10 per diaper. This is roughly 1/2 the cost of Fuzzi Bunz and Bum Genius but you can't buy just one to see if like them. I think I recall that they'll accept returns. Good luck, K.

Okay....I hate to get totally political...but! Tis' the season. I promise not to get too preachy!

When you buy things made in China they are more likely than not, coming from cheap forced labor. Chinese laborers are forced to work, they aren't given an option. Many of them live in the factories. (there are plenty of resources on the internet that will verify this...or watch Walmart: The High Price of Low Cost.)

On top of that the materials used to manufacture various goods are not top quality. (think about how many times you heard about toys, etc being recalled because they were made with lead based paint etc over the last year.)

I would go with whatever is the cheapest brand at the grocery store. Also, I would imagine that if they are being shipped from China the shipping would be pretty high. If you have a washer and dryer at home you may want to try cloth diapers, I hear they are inexpensive (but can be a lot of work.)

Good Luck!

*I just read other responses and it sounds like coolababy diapers are cloth diapers....So! That being said....I would try any other cloth brand not made in China. Also, someone mentioned they come in bright colors....you don't want synthetic dyes like that on sensitive baby areas. Regular non-dyed cotton is probably best.

I haven't tried them, but I am betting you could ask at the diaperswappers.com forum and someone would have more info about them.

but you can get very good diapers made here by WAHMs or reputable companies for very good prices just by buying at diaperswappers from moms whose babies have outgrown them. I bought all my daughter's newborn thru med. size diapers there. If you buy in lots of several or more, the prices are even better.

There are some crazy popular brands that are waayy too expensive but the good basics like prefolds, can be had for 2 or 3 dollars each or less. I like www.greenmountaindiapers.com for prefolds. If you get three dozen of those, a handful of Snappi fasteners for them and three or four diaper covers you will be set for a long time, and can sell them when the baby outgrows them to fund your buying up to the next size.

This sounds bad, but I would be leary about some things from China. I would research it more.
