My son gets very congested when sleeping upstairs at night. I used to have a cool mist humidifier when he was newborn by germ guardian that was great when it wanted to work, it would just shut off all the time. I finally threw it out. Just yesterday I bought a Vicks one gallon humidifier for our bedroom and the thing pretty much blows regular air out of a bowl of water on top of that it's high setting is soo loud. I've been looking at reviews and nothing seems perfect so I thought I would ask what some of you mommies use and love? Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

The brand we've used for years is Holmes. You can get them online or at stores -- I know the chain Bed, Bath and Beyond sells them. They aren't cheapies but they are much tougher and will last longer than drugstore brands. Cool mist is a great choice for helping with congestion so keep it up!

We like the Reli One Brand from Wal-Mart. They have one that is $25 and we have used it everynight since my son was 2 wks old he is now nearly 18 months old. The filters are $4 each at Wal-mart and are easy to find, we change our every month to month and a half.

What I always do is put it on high for about 1-2 hours before bed with the bedroom door closed, then bump it to low when it's bedtime. (They can be noisy!)

I use a plain old CVS brand for my kids and it's always been great!
