Hello ! I am looking for a cool mist humidifier, mainly for my son's room. Does anyone have an reccomendations? I would like to find one that does not soak everything in the room or leak. I've had a bad experience with one and am not sure which one to go with now.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

We bought one of those cute character ones made by Crane for my son's room. We place it directly on his wooden dresser and have not had any issues with it leaking. We're pretty happy with it.

I agree with the post about Holmes humidifiers. They seem to work the best and are some of the easiest to clean. I have never had any issues with mine either.

we just got the most inexpensive option, a Kaz from target for about $17 think .....that was after I havd done a lot of research. First I had one of those cute animal ones. You could see the mist coming out. It was ultrasonic, and that was the problem...it made all the minerals in the hard water airborne, which created a fine white dust on all the electronics and cds (and probably inside of the electronics too...) and made our daughters booger opaque white. We had to use distilled water in it to avoid that problem and that gets expensive fast. The one we have now is very simple...just a bowl of water, a filter which draws up the water, and a fan that flows on it. My only complaint is that with our hard water, the filter looks stained pretty quickly (but you don' see it unless you open the cover) and we end up changing it more than I'd like. You don't see the mist coming out, and it won't make things wet, but it definitely humidifies, and it couldn't leak unless the bowl got cracked or you overfill it.

We like the Crane animal ones as well. In fact we just bought one for OUR room b/c my husband and I tried 2 others that broke but our daughter has had hers going strong for 3 years and my son 1 year. They do get a little crusty on the inside so you have to clean them sometimes but we don't have the other problems with them that Chris did. Whatever you get make sure you put it on top of a dresser or something and make sure the mist is going up and not falling down. If it's falling down it's on too high and can soak the furniture or floor or whatever is beneath it which could be troublesome!
