So What Happened?

He's been making toast with nutella and jam for himself and for us for some time. He also washes vegetables. We've made cookies. Thinking of adding to his repertoire.

At four,my son started with that package to make pizza dough. He had flour everywhere, but the best part was his simple joy in doing it and the pride in the outcome. My neat-freak mother happened to have been over that day and was shocked I would let him "make a such a mess with flour all over the kitchen and him." Flour was a cheap price to pay for creating such joy!

The most recent is french fries (although we will bake them). Yesterday my youngest found an old fry cutter in on of the kitchen drawers and wanted to use it so we had to go to the store to get potatoes. The girls are planning on making them tonight.

My daughter, now 19, has always loved being in the kitchen, probably because I love it and just had her with me when I was cooking.

We started Easter candy before she was 1 yr old but it was a tradition I wanted to have with her. Later on as she got older, she would dip the eggs in chocolate and help me wrap them.

One of my favorite things she made and still makes is a caprese salad from Everyday Italian cookbook.

We loved baking cookies and muffins. I don't eat them but I love making them!

The first thing that came to mind when I read the title was "creates a huge mess" lol my guys are into everything I do at this point. Start to finish(and that's the dishes). Its not every night and they are sporadic in which one wants to help at which times but I gladly accept the help! Everything I made I always have a few extra hands! But it does get messy! I love it!

My 4yo daughter is currently running back and forth between where I am sitting and the kitchen, because I just agreed to let her make peanut butter and banana cookies. It's a simple recipe, and I walk her through it... But she does all the work. (Except for the oven part.) We do the same for Banana bread.

She has been making simple things of he stove, under close supervision. She LOVES to make scrambled eggs, and she surprised me with a plate on my birthday. (She woke Daddy up to help her. Lol.)
