I have had a rack of ribs (cut in half) cooking in the crock pot all day(smells amazing by the way). Now do I dump the water out and fill the pot with barbeque sauce and let them soak in there?

What can I do next?

wow - i would've had them soaking in the BBQ sauce all day...

I wouldn't want to dilute my BBQ sauce so - yeah - I'd dump out the water...but I've never cooked my ribs that way - in water...I've done them in the oven on low heat wrapped in foil and in my crock pot simmering in BBQ sauce all day...

how interesting to soak 'em in water all day!!

Pull the ribs out and put BBQ sauce on them then put them in the oven for 15-20 minutes. If you want them to finish in the crock pot then yes, dump the liquid and put the BBQ sauce in there.

I've never done ribs in the crock pot, so let us know how they turn out. (We smoke our ribs for 6 hours. I tried short ribs in a pot on the stove and no one was really happy with them. It would be nice to have ribs that are "hands off" as far as cooking method.)

ETA: I just realized that you did, in fact, say water. You didn't use beer or some other flavorful liquid?

I would personally put them in a casserole dish and smother them with sauce and turn up the heat for a little bit, and make sticky ribs!!

My friend did this and they cooked so long they all fell apart and we had to eat them like pulled pork sandwiches!

My mom makes the best ribs and everyone RAVES about them. She only buys pork ribs and boils them in water for about an hour. Then she takes them out and puts them in a big baking dish and pours bbq sauce all over them, covers them with foil and bakes in the oven at 350 for about 1.5 or 2 hours. They are awesome.

Hope yours turn out great!

When I have made ribs in the crock pot, the meat falls off of the bones, so do not be surprised..

Yes, pour out the liquid, then pour in the sauce on and continue to heat or place the ribs in a pan and bake or grill them with the sauce on them.. for about 15 minutes.

Why? What did those poor ribs do to you? I have no idea since I would never do such a thing to my ribs.

*cries*

Its a shame to pore the water off. Save the water for soup or something. If they have been in water all day, put them on a tray/pan, pore your favorite BBQ sauce on them and "cook" in the oven for 30 minutes or so and serve.

"Cook" them for just long enough for the BBQ sauce to sink in. They are already done. If you like rice, measure the water and put one cup of rice for every 2 cups of liquid. I'd dice an onion and add it to the water for flavor.

Good luck to you and yours.
