Feed him/her fruits that begin with P - e.g. plums, pears, peaches - dried is fine. They are particularly helpful is loosening bowel movements. Any fiber is helpful.

there are several ways.
If it has been around 4 days and the child is uncomfortable, you could try a Fleet child's suppository. They sell them at CVS, Walmart, Rite Aid, etc.

If it's been more than 4 days, I would call the doctor or go to an urgent care.

Once the current round is over, talk to your doctor about usuing Miralax. You need to use it every day for around a month for it to get the system regular. My daughter was given 1/2 - 1 tsp a day in some orange juice or chocolate milk. A

Another thing that helps is yogurt with active cultures in it. Activia, Yo-Baby, Chobani.

I use peppermint oil called "Peppogest" at the first sign of distress. My kids know to ask for it. For my youngest I would give him one each night because constipation was a problem for him. They come in a tiny gel capsule at natural food stores=easy to swallow!
Best wishes~

Pear juice, store-bought or fresh. I prefer fresh. I buy pears and juice them for my little one, and he gobbles it up. Sometimes minutes later I can see and smell the difference.

My daughter suffered from chronic constipation for years when she was little. Her specialist put her on Miralax (back then it was presciption, but now OTC) and mineral oil. He also had us increase the amount of fiber in her diet.

That being said and not having much information, have your child drink lots of water. Limit juice and water it down a little bit. If your child will eat them dried prunes and dried appricots are very good. Increase fiber in his/her diet.

I would consult your doctor before giving medication. However, you may want to give him/her a doze of mineral oil at night before bedtime

Miralax but not as a habit. More helpful: less sugar, more fruit/veg and water.

I have found that drinking good alkaline water and jadegreenzymes helps with constipation. When you drink water that has nutrients put back in it your body will absorb it in your cells quicker and your organs.

I put together a few in home parties for moms last month and shared some great tips that healthy child is sharing on how to keep our children healthy. I had several moms get excited when their children were able to go to the bathroom without crying and the children sleeping better.

If you would like more info email me and I will send you some tips.

Happy Thanksgiving

No miralax or suppositories! If it is chronic, then a bit of probiotics every other day and watch out for triggers like bananas and chocolate. If it's just this one time then lots of prune juice and once again probiotics a few times a day.

If it's chronic, you should look at his/her diet and consider Miralax if diet is not the issue.
