Why is my daughter more congested at home than outside? When she gets up she is fine and after 10 mins she sounds horrible. She has tonsillitis now but that is not the reason she is like that. She has had a on and off cold since Halloween. I have done everything possible. Steam showers, vaporizers, and nothing works. I am so tired already of all of this

What can I do next?

If it is cold outside, she may have the inflamation go down when she is out of the house. She might also be allergic to dust, or dust mites or something else that is in your home, which could cause issues. I would be asking the doctor for more help if she continues to have chronic issues that do not seem to heal.

Love your title...could be a song from school house rock!

You probably need to air out the house. The house might be cold and damp causing molds, mildew, etc. Lysol the entire house. For her cold, try making a tea from ginger and garlic. Boil in a pan with water, drain the water, sweeten with honey and have her drink (i.e if she is over 1yr old) I hope she gets better soon.

J.,
You may want to switch to nontoxic cleanering and laundry products if you haven't already. Indoor pollution is greater than outside.
There are also supplements that can help.
Let me know if you want more info.

Does she have allergies? If you're anything like me you hate to dust and put it off as long as possible. Maybe she's developed an allergy to dust and that's why it's worse at home then outside. (I'm just making a suggestion. I'm not a doctor and have no clue for certain!)

Good luck and I hope you're able to figure it out soon!

I have dealt with congestion issues for my son too. It is very frustrating! Back in May, I started him on a supplement that has helped quite a bit, although it's still a work in progress. I think this time of year with the change in temps, etc, is tough for him and a lot of other people. We also use the saline nose drops each day. Also, when I vacuum every nook and cranny of his room, that tends to help if he's having trouble. Let me know if you'd like some info about the supplement. I hope your daughter is feeling better soon.

Use and air purifier in her room. This will help get rid of the allergens in her room. You may also want to use a cool midst humidifier when she sleeps. She may be allergic to dust which is inside the house which is not outside. It is cooler outside and moister. Right now,the heat will dry out everyone's nose, hence the reason for the cool mist humidifier. Zyrtec is good and can be used for children two years and up. It may take a week to see maximum effect. Hope she feels better.
