Ok my periods are every 41 days and they last 7 days with a extra day of spotting. This has been this way since I had my daughter and she is almost 2. Well this month I started 3 days early and only had 3 days and 1 day spotting and I only really had to use small pads I probably could of just used panty liners. I am confused. Could there be something wrong. Anyone else have this happen to them? Any advice is greatly appreciated. I thought I would add that I am 26 years old and I am not on birth control, this has been my schedule since before I had children and after my children has always returned to normal except twice I was late and it was due to stress. I am not under any stress now. So I am still confused.

What can I do next?

I had similar happen. I brest fed for almost a year, so I don't remember having any periods then. After that it was a month or two months between mine and some were heavy. But now with son almost 6, I think I am just know getting back to normal for me. I get it about every 28-30 days, but recently mine are lasting2-3 days. I know!! Lucky me!! But I too hope that does not mean problems. I hope you get the answers you are looking for.

Have you started any new birth control? different pills can make your period lighter- which is a nice side effect. just a thought- I wouldn't worry though

Consider what your periods were like before you had your daughter, could it be possible they are just returning to what they were prior. Also you didnt mention your age or if you are on any type of birth control all that will play a factor as well.

Hi P.,

I feel your hormones maybe out of kilter.

I'm 42 and 17 months ago gave birth to a beautiful little girl. I nursed her for 10 months. My period started back I believe it was the 6 month after having her. They were pretty heavy to begin with for the 1st 3-4 days and then tapered off for a total of about 6-7 days. These last 4 months they have finally gotten lighter, but the 2nd & usually the 3rd day are still pretty heavy. Just before my daughter turned 14 months I purchased a BIOLife Pendant that I wear that has seemed to help balanced my hormones. (My mind is clearer, I don't forget things anymore). I was using progesterone cream...which seemed to help with mood swings and my periods, but then I ran out. After I started wearing the pendant I decided to try the cream again, (because I'm over 40 & I thought it was the right thing to do), but this time it had an adverse effect on me...I started sweating terribly! I did this for a couple of days trying to figure out what was going on. I stopped using the cream & the sweating stopped. My periods have since balanced out...every 28 days, lasting 5-6 days. The flow is A LOT lighter! A friend of mine was dealing with vaginal dryness, and after she started wearing her Pendant she doesn't have that problem anymore.
You may want to see if your Dr. could have your hormone levels checked. If you are interested in a Pendant, email me & I will give you that info.
Hope my story has helped.

Heavy periods tend to follow child birth and then eventually slow back down so I wouldn't be too concerned. If anything I would be happy! Also I would call your OB/Gyn just to be sure.

Are you on any type of birth control? I know with some forms they can gradually change the length and frequency of your period. I would contact your OB/Gyn either way and just let him/her know. They should know whether that's an acceptable change or if it could indicate a problem. After I had my daughter I had a period every two weeks!

i dont have advice for you, i just wanted to share with you my past experience. when i found out i was pregnant with my son, i was confused about how it happened. i had a 3 day long period and didnt have sex between then and when i found out. my doc explained that when the egg implants, sometimes it causes bleeding that can be confused for an early period. that may be what you experienced, or you may just be having an off month. either way, let us know what you find out!
