So What Happened?

My Grandchildren's Mother {My Older Daughter} has an addiction problem and due to this and her neglectful, irresponsible actions I fear for the Safety & Security of the Children! In this case I believe a store employee called an ambulance and my Granddaughter was taken to the Emergency Room, THANK GOD!!!!! Please do NOT Think me short-sited or think that i have NOT reported my own Daughter, more than once, more than twice, more than 3 times to D.F.A.C.S. to protect my 5 year old Granddaughter/would be 2 year old Grandson, & my 10 month old Grandson!!! At NO point have I been able to get these people to Properly Investigate the situation, they have yet to ever even attempt to speak with the other witnesses I have provided names & numbers for in order to assess properly what is going on!

Keep being the squeaky wheel Grandma! Keep calling and being an advocate for those children. Call to report, call to check on the status, every other day if you need to. Call to give them the witnesses names again. If you make enough noise, your case will be moved to the front of the line so they don't have to hear from you anymore.

And, yes, a child passing out requires an immediate call to the doctor and they will most likely advise a trip to the ER.

You need to take this child to the ER if he's passed out and had a seizure. Doesn't matter why it's happened.

After your SWH: I suggest that you call the doctor who treated your grandchild for the seizure. Does your grandchild have a regular pediatrician. If so, talk with them too. They cannot tell you anything but you can express your concern. Do you suspect that your daughter gave the child dextroamphetamine? Tell the doctor. Doctor's are mandatory reporters and may be taken more seriously by CSD. If the doctor has some history from you they will be able to more accurately know what is going on.

Your question is one that it medical in nature and needs to be posed to a medical professional, not a moms' site. I understand that the little girl was taken for medical attention right away and that you are just looking for answers as to why it happened, but the answers would come from the doctors who treated her. I realize that your daughter does not need to tell you anything and might not be truthful. If you are curious about the effects of certain medications, you might pose your question to a pharmacist.

I'm sure it's possible, my son took that medicine for a while for ADHD. But as another posters said seizures and passing out is not good regaurdless of the cause!

Just because I have experience with a person like your daughter, I will tell you about a mental illness that sometimes leads to this addictive behavior.
Not everyone that is an addict has this but it will give you ammunition to understand you enemy, if it is this illness, borderline personality disorder.
You can find the symptoms on
BPDFamily.com

If this is applicable, it in no way implies that you should back off because it is a mental illness. Keep trying to protect your granddaughters.

I hope your grandchild is ok. The best thing you can do to build a case for Children's services is to : Document everything.
Name, date, time, place, what happened, pictures of what you saw, what the kids saw etc.

Report any bruising, unnatural behavior, oversexualized behavior, neglect etc. To pediatrician, school official, other healthcare person. They are all mandated reporters---if they report, sometimes Children's Services take things more seriously.

Also, keep note of how many times you have called, reported etc and have fallen on deaf ears. Then when you go to court, you can let them know how horrible Children's Services is and that you need help protecting your grandkids. Hang in there!

I am not sure about the medication--but what is described is not normal--always call 911 if you see something like this.

Addicts are master manipulators so she's probably been able to talk her way out of situations. The authorities are usually more interested in giving support to keep a family together and willing to work with the parents to give them the skills needed to parent.

Keep calling, reporting, and calling to follow up on your calls. Stress that your grandchildren are in danger, serious danger due to your daughter's addiction problems. Are you able to take the kids into your care? You might want to mention that you could take them to keep the kids out of foster care while they work with your daughter.
