I know with the amazing array of people on this site that there have got to be a number of you with a concealed carry license. I have a couple of questions:
- Do you carry on your person or in your purse? If on your person, do you have a holster type that you favor?
- Do you, honestly, stow your pistol in a gun safe, with the ammo away from the weapon when you are home?

Just curious what you guys do.

**Disclaimer: I'm not looking to bash people or cast stones - promise :-) I know what we do in our home & I'm curious what other's do.
Thanks!!

So What Happened?

Thanks for your input ladies :-)
As for us - my husband & I both carry pistols. Mine is either on my person or in my purse (which I don't carry often) most of the time. We are of the same opinion of a number of other people who wonder what the point is of having a personal firearm for protection that isn't loaded or easily accessible.
Yes, we do have children & often (very often) "test" them to ensure they know what to do if they come across a weapon. After MUCH instruction on the proper way to act when finding one we then go about testing the kiddos.
Anyway, thank you all for the time you took to answer! Mucho blessings!

My brother is a police officer, so as such he has nationwide concealed carry rights. He wears a shoulder holster, even when he drives 400 miles to visit us. When he gets to my house and starts to play with the kids, he takes it off and locks it in his combination locked travel safe.

He lives alone and works the night shift, so when he is home his handgun is readily accessible near his bed.

He has many other guns, mostly hunting rifles, and they are all locked in the proper safes.

My husband and I are looking forward to our first trip to the range and to learn more about gun safety and ownership.

i don't, but my sweet little old mormon aunt in utah packs. she has a loaded gun in her car, within reach, and another in her bedside table.
i NEVER show up at her house after bedtime without calling to let her know i'm there!
she and her SO are of the opinion that firearms are for personal protection, and that storing the ammo in a locked cupboard away from the gun is a waste of time.

I keep one in my purse and one in our bedroom.

The one in my purse is there at all times and when I am home my purse stays on top of the fridge, out of site of my child.

The one in our bedroom is not in a safe and yes, it is loaded. We keep it atop a shelf in our closet and our child does not know it is there. The closet door remains shut and has a lock on it.

I was sexually assaulted in a mall parking lot when I was 17, in broad daylight, and there were other patrons nearby. I am lucky that I escaped and will never again assume that I am safe in a populated, well-lit area. I am confident that I can protect myself with a gun and I can't wait to teach my daughter how to properly use a gun when she is old enough so she can protect herself as well.

You can never be too safe.

My ex has a concealed carry license and wears a handgun in a holster (don't know the specific type). He does not own a gun safe (that I know of) and likely still sleeps with a loaded handgun under his mattress. He is diagnosed Bi-Polar Disorder II with anger issues, after 30 years of chronic cyclical depression. He has spent at least one stint "in-patient" and still qualifies for this license in our state. He has former law enforcement training and has hunted deer since he was 13 with a wall full of trophies to show he's a good shot. He has verbally threatened to go after men that he's found out I've dated. I will be single until he dies.

My husband has one and he carries it in the back of his pants, when he carries it. Sometimes he'll use a holster, it depends on where he is going.

All guns but one are kept in the safes. Not child accessible, but reachable by us adults.
