our computer crashed-we took it to best buy who couldn't fix the problem so they sent it off to their geek squad hard drive restore place. they just called and said that it's an internal problem so they were going to have to take it apart-they were confident they could restore it though. They said it was going to cost us 1675.00. Anyone know if this is a decent price or does anyone have any personal experience with someone else who may be cheaper?
i called best buy and am having them send the hard drive back to us. we called FSC and they gave us the same quote of 1250 so that will be over 400 dollar savings (THANK YOU MIRANDA!). I know whoever does the work needs a 100 clean room cuz they'll have to take it apart and FSC has that and looks good so hopefully they can get all our pictures, video's and documents for us.

We just had the same problem about a month ago. We took it to FSC in Lee's Summit. Their number is ###-###-####. They first tried to rewire and restore at their store and if that had worked it was going to cost us around $400. It didn't so they sent it off and told us that would cost $1250. Luckily, in the process we remembered we had our pictures on my husband's iPod and found software that allowed us to remove them and put them back on the computer, so we didn't end up following through, but we chose them because they were going to be cheaper than Best Buy. Had a nieghbor that had the run a round with computer. It was going to cost 1,000 that they did not have. So they didn't do any thing. Then there kid came home from college. Fixed it for nothing and it was no where close to what they said the problem was. Get a second opinon. I use a friend who has a company called "the Comupter Guy" in Indep. His wife is Rhonda H on Mamasource. Good luck .

You can't seriously be thinking of paying this money to repair, when you can buy a new computer for less!!
Go buy a MAC computer next time...no problems, no viruses,everything included, and they will transfer your hard drive to the new machine for free. I have never owned a PC and have never had the kind of problems I hear about on a daily basis. MACs are the best!

I am not sure where you live but my parent's had to have their hard drive recovered and rebuilt 2 months ago and they took it to a small shop that was recommened by some friends. He is only one guy, but he is great and reasonable. He is in Independence though. If you want his name and number let me know and I will call my mom and get it for you!!

Best Buy is always going to be one of the most expensive. Also, for that price you might want to just get a new one.
