Hi Moms!
I am 7 months pregnant with my second child and have developed a few horrible varicose veins. I want to get a pair of compression stockings to minimize the swelling.
Can anyone recommend a place/website to order the stockings? Also, do you know of a great body makeup I could use to cover the veins? It's skirt/dress season and I want my legs to look at least somewhat attractive.

Lastly, has anyone experienced something different? Do the veins go down after childbirth?

Thanks in advance!

I got those nasty veins too AND stretch marks behind my knees!! I haven't tried socks yet, but I use Sally Hansen's Airbrush Legs Makeup

It doesn't cover 100%, but it definitely helps camouflage.

Try your local pharmacy for the commpression sockings. Just to warn you they are very expensive. I got the varicose veins really bad with my first pregnancy and they did not go away after the pregnancy they actually got worse. I ended up having surgery to remove them. Occassionally I have to wear the stockings when my legs start to hurt. The doctor recommends to wear them all the time but the are not comfortable, especially during the hot summer months. With my second pregnancy I did not have any more varicose veins and now pregnant again I still haven't had any problems.

Hi Monica,
My best suggestion is to get a prescription from your doctor. Insurance may cover a great portion of them. Good compression hose cost about $130 without insurance.
I have a LOT of knowledge in this area. I get one new varicose vein with each pregnancy, and then the others get longer and more complex. The ones from Baby #1 run the whole length of my legs. YUK!
They hurt from the very beginning, but I put off wearng hose til about 4 or 5 months- mainly because I have a love hate relationship with the hose. They really help my legs feel better, but I dislike putting them on and fussing with them all day.
After the 5th pregnancy, I had surgery to fix them- mainly in hopes that it would help my next pregnancy. I only had time to complete one leg before I moved out of state, so that leg definitely feels a ton better in my 6th pregnancy.
My midwife just recommended a supplement called Vein Guard (found at wwwvitacost.com. It will not fx the veins or prevent you from getting more, but it is supposed to help with the "tired leg" feeling. I haven't tried it yet, but it is on the way.
If you have any questions on my experiences, let me know,

T.
