They sell compression socks at Walmart. I have wide calves so I buy the men's version and tuck the excess under my toes inside my shoes. They stay up and work really well.
They also have women's sizes but I can't get them to stay up. They come in beige and black. They are about $8 per pair here. I like them because they are not too stretchy, they compress well. I can put a pair on and wear them under slacks and no one knows they aren't just black socks.
In pharmacies they often sell compression knee highs too. You'll need to be careful about the size because they are non-returnable. I get the thicker ones that have a slight texture to them because I want the compression to be strong.
Here's some links to the ones they have at Walmart. The men's are next to the diabetic socks in the general sock area and the women's are hanging with the regular socks near the packages of socks.
